Does anybody here work for QinetiQ?

Worked with some of their staff before, very quirkey in an eccentric kinda way, they seem to be pretty hot on some topics tho.

Can't help you with the assessment centre tho, sorry. You going in as an engineer or something different?

prepare to have your whole life torn apart, and that of your family's while they check every little detail of your small and insignificant life,

once they are done, you can then sign over your soul, for the rather large sums of money they pay for your contribution to survey and detect hostile threats here and abroad.

no I have never worked for them

I know someone with DV clearance, who, in his interview (or one of many) he was asked if he'd done anything he wasn't supposed to, or that he wanted to admit. He proceeded to tell tell about a time when he was a kid and fingered his family dog.

They didn't hold it against him. Apparently they didn't mean that sort of thing.

LOL...

Well, its based in Hampshire, the job role is in Maritime Engineering.

Spent much of the past 3.5 years getting drunk on St Kilda with the QinetiQ lot. Until they closed the bar, miserable sods.

I miss the Puff Inn, I really do, not been there since oh.. '93 I think it was, lovely islands though..

From what I heard though, after QinetiQ took over from the MoD, they really made things much less friendly

Never had dealings with QinetiQ, but my first job offer out of uni was with DSTL which is the other half of the company from which they split.

I had to go down to Fort Halstead for the interview and assessments like any normal job really, only it was much much more interesting with all the military gear parked around and active gun ranges!

The assessment consisted of a couple of interviews and they focused on different things, ie one was technical and another was about who you were etc. In preparation I would recommend that you are just generally up to date on world events and make sure you show that in the interview as they like well rounded individuals who are generally clued up.

I never did take the job in the end as the security vetting process took so long and they were paying peanuts. It was a seriously impressive place though!

I have an assessment centre with them soon and was looking for any inside tips ?

This is my first assessment centre and I'm really excited lol

Thanks.

Hi

I was just wondering if you went to the assessment centre, and if so, what happened/what type of questions did you get asked etc..?

I have one on Friday and don't come from an engineering background do I'm particularly nervous!

Cheers

As someone who has DV (and STRAP), I can assure you that they probably already knew.

The DV process is more of a "we want to know if you are telling us the truth vs what we already know". When I had mine, they saw who I had put down as one of the references and proceeded to tell me the names, DoBs and gender of his children.

When asked if I watched porn, I replied "Occassionally"........

It really is quite extraordinary how deep the questioning goes for certain clearances.

I wasn't too sure what to make of the interviewer when he asked me if I had any latent or previous homosexual desires. Upon replying no he asked if I was sure :(

It's kind of disconcerting how much they know.
