Hey all.

Just wondering if i can get some advice. I use a razer db 3g mouse and have for about 4 years or so iirc. At first i didnt get on with the low profile of it but have since getting used to it and use a kinda claw grip usage i.e rest palm on the desk and use my finger edges to only touch the l and r buttons at the base of the buttons area kinda i find it weird to use my fingers to rest and use the full length of the large buttons.

The coating on this mouse makes it attract dirt after a few weeks and is hard to clean due to the rubber or whatever coating so whatever mouse i get next needs to be something other than that type of material in hopes it doesnt get dirty like mad all the time.

The left 2 buttons are too far forward for me with the current mouse unless i move my hand further up the mouse to use so with luck the next mouse i use the buttons will be futher to the middle of the side of the mouse if possible. I also would like it if possible to have at least 3 mouse buttons on the left that is easy to use and have a decent click to them and that they arnt too small or too large as the buttons on this one is a kinda crap 2 in 1 thing with dots on the edges to press on to click, id prefere seperate ones if possible.

With using dual monitors, 1 24in 1080p and 2nd is 19" tft 1280x1080 res and im starting to feel the mouse even with max acceleration is too slow for desktop usage so while not wanting a lot of fast speed a little more would be nice if i can get it. Tho i swear it used to move quicker than this awhile ago on the same mouse and settings for some reason it feels not much better than default without the razer software to make it quicker. :/

I do like the noiseless mouse scroll of the device so something smooth and not a lot of noise or clicking when scrolling would be welcome in a new mouse i get.

My budget would be around 20-30 quid if possible. I would have liked to get a logitech awhile ago like the mx518 but i duno if i would nowadays mainly due to the buttons it has and im not sure how i feel about going back to them fatter mice compared to the razers shorter height. I think my hand size is around small to medium i think last time i did the tape measure thing to do around the palm it was about 9 or so which i think is like small or medium so with that a mouse for around that size?? About the one i have now, i technically could put my whole palm on the mouse and stuff and reach the side buttons but my wrist doesnt touch the desk a lot i mean if i stretch it forward the mouse it would but anyhow i feel i get more control if i defo have my wrist touching the desk/mat and when i use my mouse like that i kinda use my finger tips to use it and my thumb is very far back and tbh i comfortably only can reach while using it like the bottom of the 2 mouse buttons on the left side. I have to stretch to click the futher one up of the 2 on the side which i dont like.

I use it for the right hand so prefer a proper right handed one not one of them ambidextrous ones that are for either hand. Also about the mice i get i hope it has decent drivers if i need to use em and that its stable and easy to use because the razer software for this particular mouse is well its not great and has been known to be a bit buggy.

Im not sure if i would like a mouse where the scroll wheel went side to side. Also not sure if i want buttons all over the place especially near the tip ends of the mouse as i dont think id have my fingers near the front much, mouse dependent of course but if its like this razor then i doubt i would, the fatter mice, maybe im not sure.

So erm any ideas.

Edit - pics of my grip if it helps pick a mouse, theres a 3rd style which is lazy style which im futher back on the mouse with a big gap where none of my palm rests on anything of the mouses back and i just touch the back edges of the mouse l and r buttons which is mainly for non gaming like browsing etc. Also i clean the mouse now and then but it still gets this manky and yes i wash my hands all the time :p And yeah mouse mat should do with a wipe down :p

G400 is probably the best value for money gaming mouse on the market right now and something you should strongly consider.

If you like to use a claw grip don't bother with the logitech G400 or G700. Get a real gaming mouse like the Zowie EC2 Evo, best gaming mouse ever. Perfect for claw grip, smooth as hell, perfect sensor and two large side buttons and it's shaped for right hand use. I have been through about 10 mice over the last 12 months searching for the perfect claw grip mouse and this Zowie is amazing, actually beats my WMO 1.1a

oo that g400s looks sexy.

i think that will be the mouse i finally upgrade to from my mx518.

Used quite a few of the mice that have been discussed so here's my take on them:-

G700 - It's really heavy especially at the back of the mouse due to the AA battery. It also has an annoying double click bug whereby the mouse sometimes double clicks when you click and hold. The mouse wheel is also pretty garbage and ghost scrolls quite a lot and there can be a very small delay when you press it. It tracks nicely and the extra buttons are easily reachable.

EC2 - This mouse will skip if you swipe too quickly. The only people who will make this mouse malfunction are those who play twitch shooters at a low sensitivity where you have to make long fast swipes to do 180's. Outside of this the tracking is really good, probably the best I've come across and likewise the scroll wheel is really good for games. It also comes in 2 shapes but the coating they use on the eVo versions gets sweaty and therefore slippy.

G500 - Same garbage scroll wheel as the G700.

G400 - No better mouse at that price point. The only thing I hate about it is the shape. I find it uncomfortable to grip properly due to it forcing my ring finger into a position which isn't natural for me.

Deathadder - These mice are really good but Razer seem to have the biggest issues with quality control. I've found my logitech mice are fairly bomb proof in comparison not to mention logitech RMA is far better.

The Zowie and Razer mice are overpriced in my opinion when you can get a G400 for like £23.

Never had either of these problems.

So the g400 gets mentioned a lot so ill stick that one in the to be considered pile. Also the razer deathadder 2013 seems to be somit to consider also as i saw a youtube vid of a guy who bought the g400 and da2013 at the same time or there abouts and with him having hands a bit like mine i.e not skinny but not massive lol but inbetween he said the da was a lot more comfy and just as good as the g400. The price points tho are a bit different tho as on ocuk at least teh g400 is £22 and the da2013 is £40. Both oos of course lol. The da2013 is cheapest at ocuk as i looked around and most places sell at least about a tenner more so if that comes back in stock it might be a purchase tho that g400 for basically 20 notes isnt somit to ignore.

The other mice so far suggested arnt what i was looking for either its wireless or just not quite what i was looking for. But i am still up for suggestions tho and i thank you all for posting your ideas for me to consider. I very much appreciate the time you took to reply.

Personally, I could not go back to a wired mouse... Sure some of them have nice anti tangle/snag cables but there's still some force there pulling against you.

Wireless mice for me give the best freedom, no matter how I use the mouse there is no resistance from any kind of cable and any recent wireless mouse is easily as responsive as most wired mice.

:)

I have had a wireless mouse once for a few years. It was great to game on and it was just a cheap 10 quid silver thing with a dock. I was so glad to go back to a wired mice as i just couldn't be bothered with the recharging aspect of the wireless function. The dock after awhile got more awkward to work when sticking the mouse in to the dock and yeah i cleaned the connectors but still was hit and miss. So yeah, ive tried wireless and for awhile it was nice but after awhile i wanted to be wired again. Its just easier to manage that way.

I mean on the mouse i have now the wire doesnt bother me in the slightest. So..

It's a fairly common complaint on the Logitech support forums so I assume it's a design flaw of some sort.

It may give the best freedom but cordless gaming mice are also heaviest by miles. The G700 is by far the heaviest mouse I've come across. It weighs 150+ grams whereas my EC2 is like 90 odd grams, that's a huge issue if you are not used to using that sort of weight.

Try looking at/for a sharkroon draconia or perixx mx2000 fits nicely between £20-£30 i have the sharkroon but are both the same mouse bar cosmetics and for the money after coming from a £60 razer its quality is absolutely marvelous and makes me question the big prices of razer products.........
