Getting used to these art pens now, only downside is one slip and it's all ruined & no going back lol.

Thanks for the feedback on the work, the monster still has to have a diorama go with it and when I finish that I'll try and play with the colours/lighting to highlight the face more. Most of my 3rd year is a project on stylised art and Darksiders is a heavy influence within it, that's probably why you see a lot of fantasy stuff.

I also recently did some work for a Steam Greenlight game concept which is a lot less far out, I'll post/promote it shortly.

I've started work on a new human character model to which I'll probably do something a bit more 'grounded' (maybe a WW2 solider).

@Tephnos - It's a pretty simple image if you look at it, practice obviously helps in reducing time. I started using Photoshop just under 3 years a go and wouldn't have been able to do anything close to that, but the time investment does pay off.

Got any good resources or guides that you used? Your stuff is really inspiring, it's just hard to find out where to actually start! :p

Thanks :D

The best thing to do is to open it up and do some observational stuff whilst learning what the tools do. Websites like CTRLpaint.com are nice for beginners but I personally prefer giving it a go with some image reference to aid me.

Yeah, I normally just try to use references when I draw, but that's mainly because I need to learn a lot! :p
 
Hey all!

I'm currently on the final stretch of my last semester > I've got some final touches to add to my dissertation and then it's game over

Really, REALLY want to get back in to drawing or 3D art / modelling, just not done it in YEARS :(

No idea where to start, or whether or not it's worth pursuing as a career as I'm a complete beginner again basically.

I'd start a course or something, but I really have no idea what company's to trust or if there are local clubs etc to attend, really cannot be bothered with IT Support anymore.
