Bioshock 3 - Infinite

i know what you're like m8, i've read all your posts on the BL2 thread, you're always going on about how everyone else is wrong and you're always right, because we've talked about this before haven't we !!!!

Rabid stalkers are bloody hard to kill, but this shouldn't be the case if BL2 dropped the loot like the 1st game did..... because back then legendary weapons were dropped often, i used to find the ``detonating cobra`` all the time, i never found a thing in the last two DLCs.

you're wrong, if a game is good i'll definitely say so, but BL2 isn't, it's average !

Lol. I have never once said Rabid Stalkers aren't hard to kill. Infact I've said before that I am certain they ****ed up the stats given that Rabid Stalkers deal more damage and have both more shields and health than Badass Stalkers who are complete push-overs. Pretty sure I've told you that before but you obviously ignored that too. Legendaries are rare, too rare, but I'm sure you don't need them to beat the second playthrough, but then what do I know, I only play online with The Bee shield

Funny how BL2 is crap cos you can't do it yet Far Cry 3 is epic when its one of the easiest FPS games released recently and aside from looking pretty is actually quite bland. I have no doubt which side BI will be (assuming you play on Hard) if you refuse to use vigors because it doesn't fit with your narrow-minded view of the game. If you wanted to do it that way for a challenge that would be fair enough, but you don't look at it that way and you'll complain about the game as if you were playing it normally.

It's 3:00am and I've just completed the game on a brand new system that I built a few days ago. Twas my first build as well and I bought nearly everything from OcUK. I can still smell the "new computer parts" scent as the fans circulates the air in and out of the case and into the room.

After 3 years of Xbox only, what a spectacular welcome back to PC gaming.

Without wanting to get too stuck into the Mal vs Evilsod "why don't they just kiss already" club...

BL2 is definitely the blander game of the two. That's not necessarily bad of course.

Both are superb games. I completed FC3 and plan to play through it again on my new GPU to enjoy the loveliness more; and I've completed all the main and side missions of all but the hammerlock DLC so far on my main charater in BL2 but they are quite clearly differently aimed games.

BL2 is all-out action - You just get the biggest/most amusing weapon you can find and constantly kill things with it. The difficulty, such as it is, comes from enemies with more health, more damage, elemental resistances or just in larger numbers. If you're insufficiently levelled up things will just kill you no matter what. Such plot as there is serves only to feed (rather well done) funny one-liners and point you at the next group of baddies to mow through.

FC3 is all about narrative - either from the main plot (which was allright) or from the player's actions - taking a camp in FC3 is a combination of stealth, planning, timing and weapon selection. Taking a camp in BL2 is about holding down the fire button 'til your finger falls off an laughing like a loon.

Why am I writing rambling paragraphs about these games in the BI thread? Because I left Bioshock downloading last night and bloody windows update triggered at 3 am, causing a restart, so it's instead downloading now and I can't play it yet!

I really struggle against the Handymen... last night I died twice fighting one. In retrospect I should have used the skyrail to avoid him but are there any techniques for dealing with them a bit more effectively? I couldn't figure out any effective Vigor tactic against them. :(

Shooting the heart is okay in theory but when they are running toward you, you're cruising for a bruising...

If you're playing on hard or 1999 mode then the trick is to never EVER stop moving about the battlefield. Scout out all the skyhooks and all available tears for heavy weapons and salts before engaging with them if possible so you know exactly hwere to head as soon you run out. Best vigor, i'd say devils kiss is your best bet as its just a raw damage dealer and it can stagger them for a brief moment. Bombard them with that when they get too close and then turn and run to the opposite side of level. a lot of people use Undertow to get easy accurate shots to the heart, but I can't stand being that close to them.

It's a great feeling when you play a great game on your very first system :).

I had the same experience all those years ago when I played HL2 on my very first build. Amazing gfx at the time and pretty much have been a PC gamer since.

you have no idea what i'll think of BI until i've finished it, so stop guessing.

BL2 is hard because of the very high health, it isn't because of the skill, it has no skill at all..BL2 is deffo not a tactical shooter :D come on Evil you should know this.

Rabid stalkers are hard to kill because their health is far too high and you dont really have the firepower when you meet them.... this is totally wrong, again no skill at all.

that Rabid Stalker dies every time i shoot it, i hit him at least 30 times, now that's enough to kill a T.Rex  yet it's hardly hurt at all, it's therefore fairly obvious Evil that these AI have way too much health, because in real life a Stalker would die from one shot gun blast.

a T.Rex would probably go down from one very well placed sniper round between the eyes, if not, deffo from an assult rifle before reloading, this is what i'm on about....

Borderlands 2 is therefore wrong wrong wrong, they compensate for its faults by raising the AI health, making the game very hard to play instead, this is not the same as skill/ tactics.

Far Cry 3 is epic, it looks gorgeous, the guns are excellent and the health is perfectly balanced, they die easily yes.... but so do you, in fact; you dont die easily enough...esp against Tigers and bears, because they would kill you instantly.

but more importantly FAR CRY 3 also has great tactics, you can launch an attack in various ways, using jungle as cover.....you cant in BL2, they detect you instantly or very quickly, you can not walk around a camp thinking what to do next, in fact, they detect you without even seeing you, esp Goliath, he'll say ``what no present`` and you havent even seen him yet

BL2 is brilliant for one thing....the bandit dialogue is quite good, especially the lunatics, they quote quite a lot of stuff from Shakespear, it's very clever, i always stop and listen to it.

this is my last post to you here Evil, so dont think you've won just because i wont reply again next time, this is the Bioshock thread, we're way off topic here

True but a tiger would also die much easier, I'm sure all I'd need is a single bullet before it stopped chasing me before slumping on the ground and slowly dying. (I loved FC3 btw)

But anyway, sorry for joining the off topicness, isnt there a BL2 thread you guys could scuttle off to and fight about this...

yes you cant beat gaming on a new rig, i've just brought a new Panny plasma, it looks gorgeous....BIOSHOCK looks fantastic.....the menu that is, i've not started the game yet :D

i've seen a tiger at close range and the trouble is you freeze with fright and it's most likely that you wouldn't see it until the last 10 ft anyway, it would not attack you head on at range, it would outflank you and attack you from the rear, it would crouch low and sneak in, or hide behind cover... break and run you down silently.

the one i saw was in a private zoo, it charged the fence and tried to get through, i froze in terror i couldn't move; your body just locks up....i wouldn't be able to shoot it, i wouldn't be able to lift my gun.

I haven't upgraded any vigors yet apart from Devil's kiss because I haven't had the cash (I've spent it mostly on the weapon upgrades).

Are there loads of vigor combos or something? Am I missing out? I remember in Bioshock you could get some pretty amazing combos going... shock in water then burn them for example. :D I've already had burning crows...

No there are no combos at all the vigors are shallow too the only useful thing is crows so you can see where enemies are and maybe bronco to send multiple enemies in the air with the aid of a gear slot and that's about it.

I haven't seen a single reason presented to say why this games "amazing" outside of amazing graphics, hell I don't even think the story is good whats wrong with some of you people you never read a book or something ? the story is mediocre yall are just graphics whores.

More and more people are coming out and expressing what I feel about the game it's laughable so many sheeple saying the same things "oh ya the story is amazing" no it's not not at all.

Thanks to you guys we will get more and more linear corridor games in the coming years.

Strange then that this achievement exists:
Combination Shock
Performed all 8 of the Vigor combinations.

Look, we know you don't like the game, and expressing some disappointment is fine. But you keep going on and on and on about it and now you're calling people names. Why do you feel like you have to prove to everyone that their opinion is wrong?

One slightly cheap tactic when there is a skyrail is to jump on it and ride around for a minute - the hanyman will eventually grab onto the rail and electrocute it to get you off... You hear him yell something like " Gerrt orrrfffff raaaaaah"... When he does this he enters a fixed animation where he jumps onto the rail and starts shocking it for several seconds, during which time he is a sitting duck if you can get close...

Other than that the fire attack works well, and undertow can stun him if you use the secondary "pull" attack... and the shock attack is utterly useless so don't use it against him

thats just some tacked on achievement show me combo gameplay footage of vigors then I am alt tabbed in the game and trying to do vigor combos cant see any at all where are they then. You are welcome to your opinions but in the long run people who think shallow linear corridor games are "amazing" are bad for gaming it just adds to the gradual dumbing down of games we've been seeing lately.Bioshock should be a fps rpg with castlevania / metroid elements not some linear corridor puddle depth gameplay game.

God forbid anyone moans when your favourite franchise gets the same linear treatment.I hope half life 3 is exactly like this then a couple of uninteresting guns and a to b corridor gameplay as long as the story is "amazing" that makes it a 10/10 game.

Half life is built on the very concept of a linear shooter you ignorant fool, that's why it works so well. And the guns are pretty much perfectly ordinary in that aswell.

yes plus, the wider the cone, the less damage it does at range, the buck shot opens up far too wide and just peppers you.... interesting.

just like the classic ``sawn-off`` it's useless at range

But how is that an 'upgrade' to the shotgun? It sounds like it just makes it less accurate. I won't be buying it this time around if there's no benefit. I've nearly upgraded all of the Vigors this time so gun-upgrade money is tight.

I guess it depends how you want to use it - as a corridor-clearance for mobs of baddies it might make it better, but against a single target it does indeed seem a bit pointless.

I'm pretty much sticking with the Carbine and Hand Cannon now. It seems like a pretty good combo. Spent some time with the machine gun but the carbine is better for headshots.
