Bricked P8P67 Pro B3 motherboard - won't even post

I was having some issues with "boot manager not found" therefore windows wasn't starting. I figured a BIOS update would fix the problem so I downloaded the latest one onto the hard drive, restarted then went into the update utility and updated it. It said "update successful" and that the system would now restart but it didn't automatically restart. I waited for maybe an hour to be sure but it was still on that same screen so I restarted it manually.

Since then the system seems bricked. No post screen... nothing. The monitor just shows standby (no signal). How can I fix this? Do I have to buy a new BIOS chip or is there another way?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I was thinking more about the BIOS update. Was the SSD using ACHI before the update & is it using it now?

This caught me out once.

lots of threads about m4's freezing until you flash to the latest firmware so id try that first

pop out the motherboard battery for 5 minutes to clear the cmos and try again,if it is bricked you can pull out the bios chip and replace it with one off fleabay for a few quid

Crashfree's not an option because nothing appears on the screen... it never searches the USB or DVD for bios files so i can't make it install.

Also it's not the hard drive which is currently the problem..... the mobo won't show post or anything on the screen. It never gets as far as the stage where it boots up the hard drive.

I had this exact problem this week and discovered it was my M4 SSD. I popped it in a nother machine, updated its firmware and now its fine.

I think it was a known bug as I noticed in crystaldisk info it had been powered on for just over 5000 hours.

only boards I know of that use soldered bios chips are gigabyte

asus are pull out/replaceable same goes for asrock,no idea about msi boards

id try what meatloaf says

as for b3 or not im not sure but if the same bios exists for b3/non b3 youll be fine
