Who said insurance was expensive for 18 year olds? :p

And finally one Voxination took of me in front of it: he asked me to try to look at much as a **** as possible and I think I did pretty well :p

Anyway, in all seriousness it's a fantastic car, miles better than anything I've driven before. It's not as quick as my volvo, but quicker than my mazda so good enough for what I want really. Comfort is amazing: it's so quiet you can hear the clock ticking at 70, and the aluminium body means it doesn't corner too badly considering it's size.
I paid £4500 from a dealer which was probably a bit high, but it's in great condition, has dunlops all round, has several upgrades such as the 12 speaker/2 sub alpine audio system, and full Jaguar/jaguar specialist service history so I was happy to pay the extra for the assurance that it was a decent example really.
Any questions and comments, positive or negative are welcome
Cheers :)

How much for insurance and how many miles? Personally, I'd love a Jag like this but the mileage I do doesn't make it viable at the moment.

Looks absolutely fantastic though, enjoy it dude.

Can't believe I was stupid enough to post about insurance and not actually mention how much it was. Sorry guys!
I bought 1 week insurance on it just to get it home for £30, renewal for a year when I buy it in june should be around £1800-£1900. Sounds like a lot, but my mazda is £1100 so not really a massive difference.

Mileage wise, it has 123k on it :)

Will you be doing a lot of motorway miles.
I have a relative who spent massive insurance for a 1.3 toyota I think it was, so you might as well go for the full Minder look I guess :D

So 52 x 30 is £1560. You want to build no claims? I'd be tempted to drive it 1 week on, 1 week off if at all possible and keep it in the garage

Yeah, almost totally motorway miles - my commute is one half of the m25, plus I'm going to be driving it to the south of france quite a lot. The fuel costs will make me cry but I don't care :p

I had heard of people doing that with insurance but I can't be bothered to be honest: would rather just insure it properly and enjoy it.

Thats very cheap - how did you manage? Is it in your name?
I don't entirely know to be honest: insurance has always been rather good to me, suppose I have a good postcode or something. I do of course add my parents onto the policy, but I'm the main driver and the car is registered in my name. Wouldn't do it any other way - just too risky.

A friend at work bought one of these for 3.5k with 80k on the clock in January. His has a different grill design to yours though. You do not realize how big they are till you see one in the flesh.

I think the question is the insurance in your name ;)

That's awesome. Proper car for an 18 year old :D Nice photos too. Do I recognise you from the last southern meet?

What happened to your Volvo?

I think he means he's the policy holder and he's added his parents as named drivers, as we all do, to lower the price a bit.

I assume.

Well recognised - that's me! Still have the Volvo but its currently off the road awaiting an MOT - needs a few minor bits doing to it that I haven't got round to yet. Still have the Mazda as well for that matter which is going to remain as my daily driver for a couple of months until I sort out insurance.
And yes, that's exactly what I've done with the insurance. I'll be doing 15-20k per year so even ignoring the moral side of things, I really can't be lying on my insurance policy.

Excellent, much better to get bent over to insure something like that (even tho I'm not a jag fan) than a few hundred less for some tiny econobox.
