New car - Jaaaagggg XJ6

That is epic for an 18 year old.

Well done.
And the great thing about this is, it's an 18 year old with taste... and at one point I feared for society and the UK, now I see a lad come along and go balls deep for a stunning car.

Bet you mates are well jealous? Word of warning, don't put it through a hedge as it's quick as you know lol

Looks nice, only thing i would change is getting rid of some of the chrome from the front but thats just personal preference.

Very mature car for your age :D

Haha thanks, glad I've been able to slightly redeem young people on OCUK! I think they are rather jealous - had lots of people back at uni messaging me asking for a ride in it. I'll do my best not to put it in a hedge: I'm normally a rather quick driver but it just doesn't feel right driving this thing fast: there was even a time yesterday when I looked in my mirror and saw a large queue of traffic behind me which is practically unheard of when I'm driving :p

I originally thought the same, but when I saw it in the flesh I completely changed my mind - I find the chrome really sets off the black paint and I definitely wouldn't get rid of it. Was even wondering earlier what the door strips would look like if they were chrome, so the old man image is clearly rubbing off on me!

Someone I went to school with was on the Jeremy Kyle show this morning and I was fearing for the UK... but now here we have an 18yo with damn good taste and a proper car!

Ah so many compliments! Thanks!

Nice Jagwhar, loving the XJR portfolio wheels on a 3.0. Safe to say you might be a jag man for life like me? If so when your 21 you'll be after the X358 XJR :D

As for the grill Im liking the chrome on black, but perhaps this might be a nice change to the front end...

Thanks :) I absolutely love your jags btw, beautiful cars. Spent a long time drooling over that whole thread before committing to buying mine and yours did stand out as being particularly well cared for.

I'm not a fan of the mesh grill personally, but I'm in two minds as to whether to get the leaping cat or not - several people have said I should but I'm undecided - part of me likes it, but then another part wants to leave it totally as it left the factory. I'll probably run it as it is for a few months then have another think about it.

That's pretty cool man, 18 and already have 3 cars including a Jag?

Yeah, makes me sound a lot richer than I actually am when you put it like that :o The Mazda will be sold in June anyway, and the Volvo may be as well depending on how I feel, so I may come back to being a peasant with only one car :p

I currently have 2 cars. One needs attention and the other is fine. At least your taste in buying cars is better then mine. :p

To have a Jag at 18, is great. Looks excellent!

Isn't it weird to have a thread, not a single flame etc... nothing nasty said... and why? because it's a JJjjaaaaaggggggggggg lol

It's because we appreciate what he's purchased, something which countless people who bash the motors massive for being direct and to the point don't understand.

Nothing wrong with keeping it factory, thats the proper jaguar way to keep the value up, hope you enjoy it, now all you need is an excuse to take her for an effortless days drive somewhere.

I thought i was young at 23 driving about in a jag :P

If you are doing 20k a year maybe it would be worth doing a LPG conversion?

I have an older xj8 on LPG and it is so worth it. I pay 61.9p a liter right now and average about 20 mpg when running gas so about 14p a mile. im doing similar mileage about 20k a year and would not consider a car like this again without gas.

A conversion would cost you about £1500-2000.

The real benefit is not the saving, but it encourages you to use it more as you are less concerned with the fuel bill. Before i had a thirsty lexus as my daily driver and i use to put off going places as the trip computer felt more like a taxi meter!

I can definitely see where you're coming from! Just filled it up and cost me £103 and that doesn't last very long. Once I've got a bit more spare cash I'll have a serious think about getting it done, 14p per mile is rather amazing.

Have you had any reliability problems to do with the LPG?

How many miles do you get from a tank?

I'm almost tempted after reading this thread. So many 1 owner mint examples floating around on autotrader!

I didn't count but not very many as it was mostly urban driving. Drove it about 10 miles mostly around town today and got 21MPG.

The quality of the cars out there was what attracted me initially to the Jags: as they're owned by older people they're generally extremely well maintained. There's a beautiful blue 3.5 V8 one online at the moment which I'd have considered if my insurance had been kinder to me.
