The Curious case of the Google Maps Murder

I'd imagine they are throwing a toy into the pond for the dog to fetch and it is climbing back out at the side of the pond next to the pier boardwalk and then shaking when it gets to its owners.

the blood trail is just water dripping off it as it runs along the walk

Oh, this;

Earlier googling by me to debunk this, raised an interesting observation about how the 'track' is wider at the shoreside and gets narrower towards the end of the pier, suggesting the track started on land.

Two Fisherman. Cought big fish. Dragged it to their car - found the car was stolen. Dragged it back (you can see two clear drag lines), threw it into water (can see footprints at edge).

Now they call the 5-0 to report car stolen.

Why would it start anywhere else?

The dog is at its wettest just after leaving the water, once it has begun to move along the boardwalk it loses less water as it moves as it has less water on it, hence the gradient.

You might have missed it, but it was suggested someone had gotten out of the water onto the pier and then made their way to land......

I see someone mention walking on the pier after being on the water, not that they got of the water onto the pier and walked to land.

Regardless, I suspect the wet dog theory is most likely.

I agree, the simplest explanation is always the most likely.
