Building computing in few hours help thread :)

Tried all of the methods over the years, as long as ya have 2 flat surfaces and plenty of pressure it doesnt matter, it always ends up been pushed out.

Just to keep things interesting ill say rubbing paste on is my option :)

Right guys problem ! Ano use will be shocked but hay I'm upgrading this month but on the computer other side of house next to router via LAN is getting 20mbs
On my old computer with the same wireless card it was only getting 6-10mbs
But for some reason this new computers only getting like 500kbs for about 30seconds and then it's literally getting nothing for about a minuite then 500 for 30sec and so on and so on !

Helpppp!

Some Belkin router , think the card is aswell ad it's quite far from the router , just weird how I was getting 6-10mbs as it was just the old computer and recieved and built this yesterday and used same wifi card and it's hardly getting anything , recon some settings somewhere?

Ended up getting a realllllly long cat5e an pluging that in not the best but at least it works

Nice rig, cable's need sorting though!

For your network, is your router a N+ router, having a B/G network adapter/wireless card can have really bad results compared to a matching N+ adapter.

Not really true, there's a good video on youtube that shows all of the methods applied and then a piece of glass pressed on top in place of a heatsink, you can visibly see the difference in spread effect and air bubbling (spreading old school style causes the air to be trapped, X and + patterns cause problems and line is pretty pointless on a modern CPU due to the size of the die, pea/rice both work best).

EDIT: Not the original one but you get the idea.

I've always covered the edges of the cpu in insulation tape just covering the outside edge. Then spread TIM inside spreading it out with a card and using the tape as a border.
Then remove the tape to reveal a nice square amount of TIM at a depth of about the same as the tape.
