Official 7990 Bargain here LoL

No one's going to pay that, the top bidder might have got confused and thought it was an nVidia graphics card, they'll soon withdraw when they realise it isn't...

:D

I thought engineering sample hardware are properties of the company that made it, and what this guy is doing selling "stolen goods"?

Also, if whoever bought the card get tracked down by AMD, he would have to return the card back to AMD with no compansation (also would be lucky if not get accused of buying stolen goods)?

Not really, that would fall in ebay's court for not taking down the sale. There was a similar ruling sometime ago, need to find the links. They are heavily insured for such events though.

Was just reading the advert for this and he states the core clock is running at 950mhz. I am sure i read somewhere that this card was meant to be faster than the amd partner cards which a good few have higher clocks. Maybe the release cards will come in with higher clocks.

I have my doubts its an engineering sample tbh, if I remember the rest of the 7900 ES cards, they had absolutely no stickers, logo's or anything like that on them, infact iirc the 7970 ES cards had a 6970-esq looking cooler, bright red PCB and the only marking was a small ID sticker.

The card in the link looks far too polished to me, I'd say its a review sample someone has their hands on, as 7990's are due for release shortly, its probable samples have started rolling out to reviewers.

Edit: as for the current price tag, I'd wager someone on a forum is having a bit of fun at the sellers expense ;)

Remember a few years back that chick on ebay selling her 'ex-boyfriends computer stuff' with what she claimed was a 5970 and wanted £250 for it, everyone realised it was just the cooler, not the card and spammed the bidding to over £100k :p

I remember.. fun times were had by all :D

It's quite likely, however, engineering samples with retail coolers will have to be made at some extent to ensure everything works as intended.

Normally you would get a slap for posting a competitor price but at $94k, I don't see that as much competition.

Hell, you could have a nice triple Titan setup and still have change for a Porsche 911.

Is there any way to find out if a finished sale is actually paid for? That's gone for $96,000, and I'm very kind to find out if the buyer actually paid for it!
What happens on ebay when a sale winner refuses to pay?
