Is it crazy to get a Motorola maxx hd imported?

- motorola are known to have good antenna's
What more could you ask for
IMO the new RAZR phones are superb and would have had one if it weren't for moto's sketchy support and poor camera, oh and if they actually brought them all out here in time!!!!
Personally wouldn't do it if it where costing more than £380 though........

I'd wait, there's some new Moto / Google influenced phones on the horizon that will be running with literally pure android and very little skinning on top.

Those phones are 6 months away are they not? This phone I have now is getting worse and worse (cracks at the slightest knock grow)

Very tempted. Tbh I'm not fussed about software updates (each one on my galaxy nexus has made things worse)

I had a similar situation with my Razr Maxx taking a bath in a Vegas swimming pool, I thought about a Maxx HD but in the end went for a refurb Razr M for $200 and then I'll probably pick up a Moto/Google phone towards the end of the year.
Don't know yet the M is in the post! Quite interested to see how it works out though, I really liked my Razr Maxx and the idea of basically a similar phone, same size screen in a smaller package seems decent especially as a holdover until the next-gen comes out.
The RAZR line are pretty awesome though IMO, might not be quite as fancy or good a camera as the Samsung/HTC offerings but they are great as actual phones

I've never had a phone with a good camera anyway
As nexus points out. The main things i want in a phone are
Signal.. I'm on 3..ill upload a screen shot
Battery.. Have to charge this phone 3 times a day
Rgb led.. Always had one.. Working where I can't always touch my phone knowing if i have an email, missed call, text, missed call our text from my gf etc etc is handy as i know if it's important and worth degloving etc

I think your only problem might be availability of the Maxx HD vs the regular HD - I don't think you'd be disappointed in the phone itself when you got it but you could end up paying a fair premium over comparable phones.
i.e the Maxx HD is $650 off-contract so with the exchange rate you're talking 425 quid already and that's without shipping and hoping you don't get dinged for import fees. Can you justify paying over 200 quid more on a phone which won't have the warranty and updates of, say, the Nexus 4?

I understand your predicament if you need to get a new phone then go for it. I don't know whether you'll be able to get the HD for less than £350 at the moment though.
Handtec are showing a preorder for £325 however they don't have stock at the moment you might want to give them a call to find out their timeframe for incoming stock?
My N4 had terrible battery life prior to rooting it and installing a custom ROM and kernel and now it easily lasts a day with moderate use - you may want to think about possibly buying a N4 and rooting it?
No other network is more than 2g around here that I know of
I'll definitely have a look at that pre order. The n4s battery is barely any bigger than my phone and I will still be with poor signal
Three and EE mast share (3G). Grab a EE (t-mobile/orange) payg sim and try it out, it'll double your battery life if you can switch to a good (2g) signal.
I'll give it a go. Do they block tethering?
It's a shame another phone isn't fit my requirements (signal and battery being practically important).. Oh led too.
I don't want to go through hassle of importing a phone but nothing is coming out before the x phone. There are cracks all over my nexus screen. Some are actually sharp
When I sold my desire for my nexus I got about 150 for it
This phone is worth 30 at most
What about the RAZR i? Might not have as high res. display as the GN, but from what I have read the actual quality of the display is very good.

Unfortunately, only Samsung galaxy devices retain most of their value these days My one S is only worth around £70 now 
, get more for the GS 2.......... Although tbf, a cracked screen drops the value big time! Friend lost out on £100 for her GS 3 due to cracked screen
