New to PC gaming

So guys,

New to PC gaming, just got myself a budget gaming system. FX8350, 8GB Ram, 7870.

Looking to see what I've been missing out on, so far the list is Tomb Raider, Bioshock and Dishonored.

I have heard about Witcher? Last time I was a PC Gamer I spent 4+hours a day on CS:S o and I remember F.E.A.R had just came out! Offt. So what have I missed out on?

Also any recommendations on a mouse pad? Thankfully my trusty MX518 is still holding strong even if it has lost a few pads from the bottom :)
 
Metro 2033, maybe some free to play MMO's like Lord of the Rings Online, Star Trek Online, Champions Online etc.
 
For mouse mat the Boogie Bug XXL is great (I cut mine to size, made 2 and got enough left for another 6 or so)

For games whats been said, plus Skyrim, Fallout 3, and NV with mods and if you haven't played it Sleeping Dogs
 
try Psychonauts

Fallout 3

Borderlands 2

Into space things then Freespace 2, Xwing & Homeworld stlll hold up

Starcraft 2

Valves Halflife & Portal set

Witcher is rather good yeah

And a few MMO's out there to temp you
 
dayz is the biggest thing on pc gaming thats new and that will get bigger.

16.99 on steam go buy combined ops and download dayz commander.
 
Counter strike global offensive is a great game give that a try.

Also dota 2 is a big hit ATM add me on steam : hairyangel ill give you a game pass for it!

Really? Reeeeeeallly? I enjoy DayZ don't get me wrong, but biggest thing?

One of the biggest exclusives maybe, but I wouldn't have thought biggest by a long shot!

Begbie, there's games like PlanetSide 2 you can get from Steam which are free to play. Bit of a learning experience but it really is great fun :)
 
Don't get DayZ, it isn't that fun anymore and you'd be better off waiting for the standalone or getting Arma 3 which is great.
 
what game has brought dayz buzz to pc gaming in last year or so ? none.

also for 16 quid you get all the other mods and games like wasteland.

best 16 quid you can spend on a game right now.


apart from that only new game worth buying at moment is bioshock infinite. tombraider was okay but not in bioshocks class.
 
The buzz over DayZ died very quickly, there's just the dedicated fans left playing it now. I doubt it has nearly as many people playing it now than it did during the first few releases!

Personally:

Racing: Dirt 3
Strategy: Modded Medieval Total War II
Shooter: Far Cry 3
Stealth: Sniper Elite v2 - I know stealth is a bit of a joke but KILL CAM!
Pure Fun: Just Cause 2, closely followed by Saints Row 3.
Havenogirlfriendorfamily: Guild Wars 2 or Crusader Kings 2 + Game of Thrones pack.
