Small/med, rapid, pretty, toys, under £7k?

The 18" wheels look too small but better than the 19's in style and have aged much better I think. Do you know what caused the problem that necessitated the engine replacement?

I do like the 19s quite a bit more, but I will probably get them refurbed without the diamond cut as im not a major fan of that.

The engine was done shortly after it had a new cat, the previous owner suspects they didnt clean the cat out or something as the engine failed within a week of the cat being fitted (not so sure myself). It could have missed a recall for the big end bearing that I believe some M3s suffered with?

Im in a bit of a pickle as the 19s I have came with nankang ns2s on the rear with plenty of tread but I need new fronts, I think I will keep the nankangs on the rear for the summer and replace them with the same tyres as I put on the fronts. Can anyone comment on the nankang NS2s? are they dire?

Very Jealous I would love a M3!!! But I do to many miles so will have to put up with my remapped 120d for now. Love the outside color, But not keen on the red leather personally. Don't think I could go back to a front wheel drive car now. Front wheel drive cars on there limits are so boring compared.

18s ftw, rears all round.

Pretty sure, I get an error code 5e5c or similar (from memory) which translates to a wheel speed feasibility above 20kmph fault which translates to the system thinking a tyre pressure is low and thus registering a wheel spinning slower or faster than the rest triggering DSC.

Thats what I think is happening anyway, I will clean it, and if that doesnt fix the issue, swap it out and go from there.

Is the DSC light on constantly? When a component used by the system fails it usually disables the system entirely and indicates this with a constantly illuminated DSC symbol.

Seems odd its kicking in early because of a logged fault - I'd have thought the logged fault would cause the system to deactivate (it knows the wheel speed is infeasible therefore it cannot rely on it for calculations so disables DSC for safety reasons).

They are dire, yes. You've bought a genuinelly capable high performance car and tyres are part of this. Chuck the Nankangs away and get quality rubber on there - whats the point in buying an M3 only to maim its fantastic handling with Nankangs?

Sell the tyres on Ebay to get a bit of money back and invest in some quality rubber all round - CS5P, Michelin Pilot Super Sport, something like that.

Or go to a drift day, ruin the horrible Nankangs in an afternoon of tyre smoking fun, then buy good tyres :p

I didn't mean to come across as negative, it looks a lovely car and I'd love one but I think the impending bills would make me cry when £500 bills on my GTI-6 when I had it felt like being raped by a thousand angry Vikings.

I had a ride in this car last week and was quite surprised just how clean it was. Was also nice to see just how much it offered over the 330.

As for price, I can understand why he doesnt wish to disclose however it was a quite a bargain and significantly under budget. He's done well.

Just goes to show good examples can be had for a lot less than the figures some were spouting on about earlier in the thread. I'm half tempted myself now!

Aye, that fiver from the 7k he saved will go towards some new tyres. ;)

I couldn't care less if he paid 5k or 8k the e46 m3 is definitely a bang for buck bargain at the moment.

I like it to be honest, quite a stealthy colour. Give the seats a wee makeover, fit good tyres and sort out the interior trim.

What I would do for the S54 in my life. :(

I ran some Nankang ns2's on a 170bhp rwd saloon and they were fine but wore quickly. The car cost me £200 though.

I'd personally keep the 18's as I seem to remember most of the reviews at the time said they were the better option in terms of ride and performance.
