Rolf Harris arrested on sexual charges

Lol @ all the southerners not liking the Chuckle Brothers. Was it the Northern accent? :p

No, i just think i was a little too old (8) when they came round with there brand of humour. Trying to copy the old slient movie stars of the 20's and 30's and failing badly, so badly.

You just can't beat Harold Lloyd, buster keaton, Laurel and Hardy and of course Chaplin

Hoping this is not true, if there are "real" allegations then of course it should be followed up. I'm just hoping the Operations Yewtree is not trying to become a "moral compass" for things that happened back in the 70s!

Unless an actual crime was committed that can be proven then arresting high profile characters why cathartic for some just seems to have become a witchhunt to me.

I actually liked their show, it was the moustaches mainly though :o Besides, I grew up in Stoke and had a strong Manc accent. Long gone now of course.

I don't understand all these shenanigans. So basically someone (anyone) goes to police and says celebrity X raped me when I was young in the 80s...so the police arrest said celebrity based on this accusation?

Yes, that's generally how it works when you report a crime.

Hey nothing wrong with being a yam yam be proud of it!
Yeah, but my areas accent is closer to Lenny Henry than Jasper Carrot :D.

I wonder who will be next to be outed, Jim Davidson is up for other charges I recall reading recently - but that doesn't surprise me one bit (as he's a bit of a scum-bag anyway).

I'd have thought if there was the merest hint of impropriety on his part, he would ever have gotten NEAR Mrs Queen, never mind painted her. The secret service are very touchy about that sorta thing.

Does that mean the police have to arrest you though, couldn't they just interview you "helping police with their inquiries" or somesuch.

No, if you are a suspect they must arrest you so that they can interview you under caution.

In a lot of cases it's more of a formality; being arrested doesn't have to mean being wrestled to the ground and handcuffed. Notice in the BBC story that Rolf attended the police station by prior appointment (which is far more common than people realise).

i don't understand why papers/bbc are only reporting this now - it happened weeks ago and was reported on many sites at the time.

IM calling it now...Attenbourgh is getting done soon...

I can picture it now...
