Hi guys, another thread on this. I made a thread before, struggling to pick a GPU.

Money is not really that much of a problem, so far the budget is about £300 but getting something like a 7970 would be overkill for my little i3, so I want to try and keep this sorta budget/mid range. I was just going to get a 7950 but I am afraid I would just bottleneck the system.

I have been looking at some benches for these 2 cards, currently already having a 7850 2GB in one of my machines, I was wondering if anyone has had both or can do a better comparison between these 2 cards?

I see in some benches that the 650 is out performing the 7850, but then in other games its the 7850 out performing the 650. The main problem with these bench marks is the fact the 7850 is 1gb and the 650 is unknown.

For an extra £15 the 7850 seems to be a little less appealing.

What am I better getting, does anyone know, I am also not sure how well this system would cope with a 7870 either, for £200 and the performance of that beast, seems decent and not too overpriced for the system.

What is in the rig the 7850 currently resides?

Couldn't you put the 7850 into the i3 and try it out?

If the other rig is better, get a better gpu for that rig instead?

Both rigs have an i3 3220, 8GB GieL 1600 DDR3 and the mobos are Gigabyte D3H.

One has a 7850 and other has a GTX260, obviously I am upgrading the GTX260 rig but I am stumped for choice.

I have a little extra money for this one and not sure what to pick.

You'll always find that in benchmarks. Some games prefer AMD, whereas others prefer NVidia.

A 7850 & 650Ti Boost, both at stock clocks, are probably within 5% of each other performance wise on average.

Overclocked then I'd say the 7850 will edge it, if it overclocks to 1150-1200mhz.

That would take it to GTX580 performance levels, which an overclocked GTX 660 would match.

A 650Ti Boost, even when they are overclocked, is still marginally slower than a stock GTX 660 going by reviews.

If you are happy with your 7850, then better the devil you know, but, you have a little extra to spend you say?

Try a 7950, clock it and see if it performs better, having a 7850, you'll know straight away if the extra is justified or not, it costs ~£10 to return a gpu with RMSD, it's not that huge a hit.;)

I would go for another 7850 if I was you, that way when it is next time to upgrade you can buy one new card and then put the two 7850's together to upgrade both your machines at once:).
