I agree, I instantly thought of Clive Barker, the sort of films he's done and written.
Will be keeping an eye on this.

Was simply just a film wasnt it? I dont think i saw any in game stuff, which is dissapointing and rather pointless if you ask me.

Well looks suitably messed up and I wouldn't be surprised if its mainly inspired by silent hill. That said I REALLY wish they would reboot silent hill for the next gen. I was hoping downpour would have refreshed the series but although not a bad game was extremely poorly executed and marred by some utterly terrible coding. 
I'd imagine the trailer is to garner interest and get people speculating, once people are drawn in the game play and more details will get revealed, so not entirely pointless.
This is pretty much the first rumblings of a game in the making, I wouldn't really call it a "trailer"
This game has great potential with it being Bethesda and partnering with Shinji Mikami, though I'll reserve all judgement until i see some game play like others have said above.

Isnt this something to do with, like a collabaration with 1 of the dudes that was instrumental in the 1st few resident evil games?

Oh definitely, just a tad disappointing expecting to see some gameplay from trailer. Aside from that it's making all the right noises, Bethesda meets resident evil is stuff of dreams.
