I noticed an app downloaded very fast today (O2, Galaxy S3) so downloaded a speedtest app.

Was amazed at the result - no wifi, just regular network. And not LTE either.
Has it always been this fast? Is this new? I'm impressed!

best i get (all over london) is ~2megs.. avarage of 800kb..

While I'm sitting at home in a low density area it's fine, fast in fact. However where I actually need it, in central london, it is shocking.

Advertised speeds mean nothing, it's all about contention ratio

This is in a city centre as well!

Can you explain the contention ratio?

Should wait around 3am-4am. The max I've gotten was 23.xx Mbps a few times. Normally it's 8-12 Mbps around that time. Shame about the rest of the day though I get like 0.2-0.3 then.

Pretty impressive actually 5 12 meg up and 4 meg down

Certainly a lot faster on on the upload than my home adsl2

It depends where you are, in the locations that have DC-HSPA+ then in the region of 20Mbps is possible.

Sadly O2 do not have that in my area. Three do, though. Hmmmm...

I usually get 5mb up/down on O2 with the areas I'm usually in. Hence why I'm not desperate for 4G as this is fast enough for me.
