Corsair blog - Vengeance Extreme 3000MHz setup and overclocking results

to run those speeds it like finding a needle in a very large haysack regarding cherrypicked components:eek:

XD Only real hardcore bench markers will shell out that price surely :d?

As wazza says, you need a top end mobo, you need a cherrypicked CPU which has an IMC capable of those speeds AND you need the ICs in the DRAM capable of those speeds. :(

You guys are all correct IMC in most cases is not able to do these mhz. I have one chip that can.

Also PSC 7-11-7 2600mhz is better for benching than these insane speeds. So unless your going for memory frequency records most benchers would not use it either.

Tight timings are also important, without them pure MHz is a waste.

My memory is a lot more efficient @ its stock 2400mhz and tuned timings, at 2600mhz it is no where near as good with slightly looser timings.

With the 3000mhz memory in the OP, the real question is how tight can you go on the timings and how does it compare with slower ram with better timings.

Who knows yet how strong IMC will be on IVY E??

I would say 2400mhz will be fine yes. A decent 2666mhz C10 Samsung IC Kit will also be a good option but totally un-necessary. At the end of the day mate it depends on IMC strength and varibility.
