Spain - Finally....
I just went to top up my tyres with air and noticed my back two tyres are like this all the way round the tyre

Now am i worrying for nothing and this is just due to wear (fair bit of life left in them tread wise) or am i risking a "felippe massa style" blowout where the tyre separates at the wall???

Just forked out for 2 x front ones and they show no signs - but they are 3 weeks old...

Tyres are Yokohama Adven Sport (Came on the car - I put Goodyear AS2 on the front ;) )

I'm guessing the tyres are fairly old if they're cracked but not worn out completely. Personally, I'd just replace and be done, not for fear of a blowout or anything but just because you don't have it in the back of your mind. :)

Well i have owned the car sine Nov 11 so its been a while. Question is - are they safe???? MOT only 3 months ago and nothing on it regarding this?

5mm tread left but will bite the bullet if you say they are not safe - just could do without the £350 cost for a month or 2..

That looks fine to be honest. Mine are much more cracked and older....been on the alloys sat in a barn for a good few years. I had advisories on mine at MOT in Feb.
I should replace mine as they don't look good but I've done around 700mi on them so far and been silly, no epic blow outs yet.

Also I have a stupid tyre size meaning finding some that aren't ditch finders isn't easy.

Ah ok.. thanks all for replies. I will change them in next 2 months anyway now to be sure, as it seems i will be ok till then.

Muchos Gracias!!

ps - I bought the Goodyears from Blackcircles not 3 weeks ago and now they are not available on the website? Any reason for that or do they not show if out of stock???

What car and make of tyre is it?

My mother has a C class coup'e and while it was in for service at Mercedes they spotted the same problem with her tyres.

I believe hers are continental and she has only done around 4-6k miles in 1 year.

when buying new tyres, put them on the rear and move rears to the front.

or rotate them every few k, then buy 4 at a time

I get that on the rear of my subaru, i had that with tyres less than 18 months old but had been used very hard. I think on the subaru its the constant deformation with 300+bhp and hard cornering going through them that does it.
