THQ broken up & sold off today

That’s one good game in 5 years followed by many bad games like Aliens: Colonial Marines or Duke Nukem Forever.

The BIA games are very highly regarded and Borderlands 1 is as well. Their only blips are those two and at that point I don't think anyone could have saved DNF. Colonial Marines I haven't tried but that game had problems throughout development.

They've definitely done far more good than bad

Could be a lot worse I feel. I'm willing to give Gearbox a pass on DNF and Aliens:CM as both those games seemed to have been largely developed by other studios and had a train wreck of a development cycle.

Fingers crossed they do it justice.

What's wrong with Gearbox

In general? Nothing.

But I'm not sold on them as the new license holders for one of the most unappreciated strategy games of the past 15 years, and I doubt that'll change until there's something more than shooters of various descriptions in their back catalogue. Particularly after a couple of their more recent releases (and no kids, picking up work done by another publisher or subbing it out doesn't excuse them from a **** poor release)

Well if they make a game they better use their ppl not outsource it like A:CM and we will know if they did or not when the trailers start showing in a few years time showing GB and then others or not at the end of the trailer at the bottom.

Also they better be PC only games, never on a console!!!!!!

I would like a Digital version of HW, HW 2 and the expac but I do object to having to pay again. Fingers crossed for a patch for the old standalone copies.

Also so far I do like Borderlands 2, kind of long winded but its got lots of life.

Sure does.

Interesting though, reguardless of who picked it up, i just hope they remember what made the original so great in my eyes atleast.

The whole narrative and atmosphere, so deep... least of all the radio chatter which made it sound like you were so up against it in the deep middle of nowhere.

Homeworld was never the best rts, but f-me everything else about the game made it one of the best experiences ever.

Hope that gearbox embrace the modding scene too... startrek, starwars, had it all.

A patch for what? I tried Homeworld on Windows 7 a couple of years ago and it worked fine.

Yep, Homeworld and Homeworld 2 both play perfectly fine on W7 64-bit with all resolutions (you have to edit the ini file but we've all done that right?) and played it with 32 x CSAA :P

Only the texture resolution lets it down but it looks great overall

Argh.... I love Borderlands 2 but really Gearbox... they have no experience with RTS...

Stelly

This is the big thing for me, they have no experience. Now, I'm not saying that doesn't mean they can't do something good with it, but equally it means there is a higher chance of them biting off more than they can chew.

i'm glad gearbox got the rights I didn't trust the indie company
I hope they will do this on there own without other company's which seem to be there down fall.
Lets just give them a chance and stop moaning about it
relic wasn't going back to homeworld they have there orders and all we can hope for is a company with some dosh get the rights and thats what has happened fingers crossed :)

Not sure if it's been said here, but Nordic Games have picked up most of the THQ IPs, including Darksiders. Seems like they were the only company that bid higher than THQ's internal valuation, Crytek did bid on it but it fell well short and didn't qualify. Now that Nordic have the rights, lets hope they let Crytek USA (aka Vigil) develop the next game! Crytek themselves will probably say no though :(

Including Titan Quest more like:)

We all have our favourites, make a lot of people happy if they could cap the magic that game had.

Slim chances of seeing it though, saturated market... the only way they'd bring it would be be b'stard'ize it with micro transactions/

Would like a Homeworld trilogy boxset, if they can haggle rights to Cataclysm.

I thought Blackbird Interactive may have been interested in acquiring Homeworld as company includes some original Relic members. But reading recent interview it seems they have moved on, and focused on Hardware: Shipbreakers instead.
