UEFA Champions League/Europa League 23/24/25 April *** Spoilers ***

Bayern smashed them basically, you seem to be trying to argue against that fact? The 4-0 scoreline doesn't lie, there's nothing undeserved about it.

No, I suggested Bayern did nothing other teams haven't done before and that Barca were hilariously bad and again I never said anything about the win being undeserved rather just certain goals???

Replays during the game suggested otherwise, I'll take your word for it, Bayern still did nothing exceptional that other teams haven't.

It was Dani Alves in the air at the back post playing them on. I wouldn't have believed it either, but they drew a line across on ITV, just onside.

And yes, they did. There is no other team, possibly with the exception of Madrid, who have four attacking players who can hurt Barca as much as Robben, Ribery, Gomez, and Muller. It allows Bayern to play, in effect, six defensive players, funneling Barca down the flanks where they either cross the ball and lose it, or have to come back into a very congested midfield.

Bayern also play very, very progressive passing football. They keep the ball fairly well, although not as well as Barca, but pass it forward, don't play meaningless five yard tip-tap football, and are able to play 15-20 yard passes, collect, and play again.

Barca had 65% of the ball and created two chances. Two. That alone should tell you how well Bayern played.

We only beat Bayern because all the lead-up to the game was we were going to play a reserve side as the tie was over, when in fact we came out hungry to try and get a result. Bayern thought they could just turn up and go through, but got a bit of a surprise, much like Milan last year. Ultimately futile in both cases though.

Bayern were good tonight but were helped but terrible refereeing (missed handballs as well), Barca doing their best Arsenal parody I've seen in ages. They haven't looked good enough to win the CL this year anyway though, so this result isn't a surprise. Too reliant on Messi this season and he didn't look match-ready tonight... they actually looked okay with Fabregas doing the Messi role a few times, but they left him out tonight and... well.

Think we should offer a cheeky bid for Villa this summer.

Yes they have. They have beaten Barca 4-0.

So should all the 'big' clubs be taking note of how Arsenal played against Bayern in Munich then, has anyone beaten Bayern 2-0 this year at home?

Fair enough, should've had a penalty too, that defence is hilarious.

Are you trying to say that Bayern aren't all that good?

Do you not think they will win the tournament?

I understand that you're saying that Barca have been poor tonight and have been exposed a few times recently which is true, however they have been quite dominant in Europe for years now and are doing really well domestically, so most of us expect them to turn up in big games.

Honestly a brilliant team to watch win; very fast attacks, physically superior, even their defending was entertaining. Barcelona are obviously a team having a generally bad day against a team having a good one, but tactically Bayern countered Barcas attacking play perfectly.

I look forward to the match at Camp Nou, you never know of a turnaround but I really want Bayern to win simply to halt yet another Barcelona vs Real Madrid match.

I don't think there's any chance of Barca coming back unless Messi magically retains full fitness in a week, they get Puyol back, and Bayern have an incredibly bad day. Too much to do methinks - they need to win 4-0 themselves just to get extra time, but they're conceding a lot of goals this season and well, Bayern, like Madrid are lethal on the counter, which is why Madrid should be kicking themselves for having a lazy start to the season, since they've made Barca look silly several times this season themselves.

No? I'm saying, for the final time, Bayern did nothing exceptional that other teams haven't done (bar the scoreline) against Barca, they were better than Barca on the night, like many teams over the past few years.

They have a chance of winning it? Madrid/Dortmund aren't bad footballing teams I don't think.

So did I, but after 15-20 minutes it only looked to be going one way, Messi doing nothing, defence looking worse than Skrtel+Agger, a physical game and Sanchez actually playing. Them being defeated isn't really a surprise, maybe 4-0 is but watching how bad they were it isn't really.

No other team has beat them 4-0 recently so no other team has done that before. I hate how everyone always says its a team playing bad as well and not just the fact the opposition played very well and made the opposition look bad. Bayern defended fantastically completely negating Barca's midfield and were exciting and clinical up front.

Im a Juve fan and when i seen them dominate us i just thought to myself they are a quality team from back to front and also have a bench unlike Barcelona. There tactical organisation is great to watch. The thing that most impressed me was they attack and defend in numbers the team is very fit, they also press very well like the Barcelona of 2009!

Madrid beat Barca 3-0 in Feb and were all over them, could easily have scored more, and that was with a stronger Barca team and Messi was at full-fitness, so tonight wasn't a huge surprise.

I'd never even heard of that kid in Barca's defence, has he even played a CL game before?

That gif totally needs a 'BUMP' caption.

Its hard, when one team smashes another, sometimes its because the other team are just crap, sometimes its because one team is so good it makes the other team look or play crap, sometimes both teams are excellent and one team is just that much better. Problem being its hard to distinguish between them sometimes. Here, I think Barca were poor AND Bayern were fantastic, but maybe not quite as brilliant as they seemed due to how poor Barca were.

But again this is a problem with Messi power, he shouldn't have started, if he did he should have been subbed, but the manager was too scared to do so, that is such a HUGE issue for that team, for all those complaining about Lampard/Terry, did Benitez or AVB play them when completely unfit and not sub them, not even close.

Sanchez is for me, very poor getting the ball from say the half way line up to the box and creating a goal, play him in behind without much to do, or use him in a one-two like the Fabregas/Sanchez 5 goal combo the other week, thats where he's good. Fabregas isn't very fast, and Sanchez's pace helped create space. Sanchez needs to play that lone striker role pulling defenders all over the place, creating space for midfielders to make goals. WIth Messi on Sanchez gets shoved out wide and Iniesta, Pedro and Xavi look mostly for Messi, which was a complete waste in this game.

Pedro is also someone I don't rate as a good build up player, but someone you can use in the box or to pull a defence around. But they lacked the player to use those two today. They had three across the front who were completely incapable of breaking down a defence or going around it to create chances for others, completely the wrong setup and refusal to change it around for fear of upsetting Messi has almost certainly now cost them the overall tie.
