*** The official HD 7990 review and discussion thread ***

An ideal card for limited space/power and PCI-lanes (like you said). Not a bad card and sits alongside the 690 pricing. I can't blame AMD for that.

Yep, let's blame nvidia :D :p

It was probably amds thought behind pricing, faster then a 690 so let's price it the same, you can't fault them on that really. They did the same with 7970 launch pricing vs the 3gb 580.

Dual chip cards have their place in the market, it's just a limited crowd :)

I'd be interested to use one and see how it stacks up against the GTX690, because the GTX690 is smooth a butter.
Also, where's that review of the displayed FPS via that strange card? That not been posted yet? ;)

Nice price :( . At least Nvidia still charge the earth for a 680 so a 690 does not look too bad considering. AMD charging £800+ for a dual GPU when the single cards have been under £300 is just stupid.

They could have done us a good deal on these seeing as they are raking it in from the new consoles.

Well thats that then!

Looks like another 7950 in xfire for me then.

Think they got excited about people buying titans they thought they would price this high as well. They have priced me out.

Ahh..such a shame, at that price, that's a definate no.

May get a gigabyte 7970 or wait and see what the 700/8000 series brings, I can wait a little while longer on a 6850.

Well, if the new Nvidia cards are indeed launched in May, may be it would have some impact on the price of 7990 (or at least one could hope)? But even if that was to happen, I doubt it will be any lower than the prices of some of the current "unofficial" 7990...

Well, they've a good job with regard to the heat, power and noise side of things, and I also like the look of it, but imo the price doesn't justify it - at least to me.

Given you can get a single 7970 with a decent aftermarket cooler for £350 it's very hard indeed to see what the market is for the 7990.

People that can layout £800+ for a graphics card aren't typically sporting motherboards that have limited pcie lanes.

Also not to mention people can spend £150 on getting a high-end motherboard plus two 7970 would still have change in the pocket comparing to the 7990 price...

I think the price will drop within a month. AMD have surely a decent market share already with the Never Settle promo and without a decent price to go with it the card doesn't really appeal to anyone other than people with limited space. As above those spending this on a graphics card are likely to have a decent enough motherboard anyway either X79 or Z68/Z77 with 8x/8x.

According to an article that I was reading yesterday, AMD's market share in the discrete graphics department rose 2% in Q1 of 2013. They only lost 91Mill for that quarter (or something like that). There is a lot more to it but things are looking promising for AMD with Q4 predicted to see the first gains. I hope their margins are good on the PS4/Xbox and can start to kick Nvidias bum. AMD needed a shake up and it has happened and now it is the turn of Nvidia to get the same shake up.

At the end of it, it is us consumers who are the winners.

i was looking into this card, but now, i will wait for nvidias new cards and go from there

as much as AMD's gaming evolved has most upcoming titles, i think im going back to the green side this time

Not sure why they bothered to release this to be honest. I am guessing just to say they can and will probably see a super limited availability. Which will drive higher prices.

It is way, way too late to the market as many reviews have said hence why I don't see the point in launching it especially given the obvious and open serious issues with crossfire AMD have.

Would you buy a card knowing it will not perform correctly until AMD release a driver that probably won't come until summer and there is no assurances it will work well to bring it in line with the competition. By the time the driver is out Nvidia probably has outed the titan LE and Ultra which mutes the 7990 and has none of the dual GPU issues.

I think they have wasted their time and don't stand to make anything on this launch other than professional pride.

Once the price drops after initial launch it should be a reasonable card/choice

Still makes it a good 6 months - year late however

The 690 came out in May 2012 which is 1 year next month so its took AMD 1 year to catchup and beat the 690.

It also beats the Titan which has only been out 2-3 months.
