I posted a picture of bangle I purchased as a gift to myself to in the purchase thread, here, http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=24179210&postcount=1092, it is predominantly a 'sobriety token' gift to myself, but I really like it atheistically as well, some people seem to have an issue with it, which is ok, I actually find the polarizing opinions quite interesting but don't want to crap the other thread up.

I find this article quite interesting,

http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/comment/articles/2012-03/13/the-case-against-man-bracelets

followed by this response by a women,

"Rose Meow
The real tragedy here is that everything a man wants to do that women are already doing has have the word "Man" put in front of it. I don't know about "Mangles" the word sounds more repulsive than attractive. Give me a man in a bracelet any day! Because that's exactly what it is; a BRACELET. If you're not comfortable enough with yourself to call it anything but, maybe you shouldn't be putting yourself out there like that anyway. A sound sense of identity must start from within, otherwise you're just making a mockery of yourself and ruining the fun for all the men who can handle it.

Not that I blame you poor dudes, with people like this guy, Paul from ChristChurch having anything to say in this world, you are doomed to remain stuck in your uncomfortable an undiscovered sense of masculinity. If you don't know your feminine you will never truly know your masculine. I believe this is one reason why we have so many angry and unsatisfied men in this world. They are not allowed to embrace this balance within themselves with out their identity coming into question. How can you be free if you're constantly being told how you should behave? Women have already begun their liberation, and we're still fighting. But isn't it time for yours?"

Of course this thread may attract some silly "gay" posts but seriously though, times are changing now are they not?

It just seems to me that so many men are stuck as a masculine stereotype but that genuinely can't be healthy surely?

So what is your opinion on 'men' wearing jewelry?

I wear a watch, a wedding ring and that's it. Occasionally I wear cuff links or a tie pin.

I see nothing wrong with men wearing jewellery, I am quite surprised anyone would have a problem with it tbh.

I used to wear a gold ring, necklace & bracelet when I was young (19), maybe inspired by '70s tv, but soon realised I didn't like them and have not worn any jewellery or watch for 20+ years.

Each to their own but when I now see a man with jewellry I still think of '70s Tv.

Watch and occasionally a ring, cufflinks for me. Never have a problem with what anyone else wears.

I was tbh, I just wanted to get into the mind set of those that do have an issue or think it's wrong, from looking around on the net jewelery on men seems to create quite polarizing responses from both men and women which is very interesting, a lot of women seem to like the classic "nice watch and wedding band".

The maximum I'd go with:

Watch (left wrist), Ring (ring finger only - either hand), leather bracelet (right wrist) - I've got one the gf got me. Nothing jewellery on neck. Cufflinks are fine, Tie Pins on exceptional occasions.

Basically, I have no issue providing it's understated. Anything excessive, or gaudy I wouldn't be fond of myself.

I've always worn Bracelets, it's from growing up in the sort of Skateboard'er attitude and was just generally the thing to do, same way surfers do.

I wear my watch on my right wrist, why would that be wrong?

I have no particular opposition to wearing jewelry, I just have no desire to do so either.

As for you, you can do whatever you like and shouldn't worry too much about what people think.

I guess you mean more hemp style and leather bracelets etc, they definitely seem to be more acceptable on men, kinda tribal or carefree hippy, they are quite popular down here also being that this is a surfing resort.

Don't see anything wrong with a single plain bracelet especially if it has some sentimental or achievement value attached to it.

Personally I think men + jewellery should be more of the subtle, tasteful style.

No particular preference about what others wear, however personally I only wear my wedding ring and occasionally cufflinks.

What i did find amusing was the assertion in the article that men are told what to wear as opposed to women whi have started to become more liberated. I take it this woman has never read any womans magazine???

No, I am an ambidexter. My son is left handed and he wears his watch on his left hand so don't think that matters.

I find wearing a watch on my left uncomfortable.

I was going to say that depending on your line of work, there might have been a reason for you wearing it on your right.

Mainly wooden, hemp, leather yeah. I've been doing so since I was about 10. Don't really see anything wrong with it.
