Ambulance passed me on the way to work today, I was equal parts amused and shocked by the reaction of the car in front and those coming the other way! Apparently the thing to do in these situations is to carry on driving but almost completely on the pavement. Alternatively, you can stop pulled over onto the pavement and then when the ambulance has passed, carry on driving, but stay on the pavement for a while.

Or you could pull over to the side of the road, which is easily wide enough for three vehicles side by side due to the bicycle lane..

Well the one in front is kinda understandable, they just moved to the next dropped kerb section.

The opposing traffic though :/

People getting out of the way for an ambulance....

Its not the worst bit of driving ever and they certainly made an effort to get out of the way!

You don't want to drive off a full curb if you don't have to. Also, your video doesn't confirm this but I imagine there were no pedestrians about. An ambulance shouldn't have to stop you moving.

And looking again there isn't that much room. Certainly one car would need to get on a curb, both being just on the side of the road would make the gap quite small at the speed of that ambulance.

I have to drive along to a drop kerb or I can damage the front splitter if the curb is any higher than the standard residential street. Nothing too impressive really. There were big verges and no pedestrians there, not sure what the fuss is to be honest.

I'd do the same, drive on to another dropped section! replacing suspension components because your dropping from high kerbs won't be cheap!

I expected cars slamming up 1ft high pavements and ripping off their bumpers.

I would have done exactly the same as the Skoda.

You could literally have a bus alongside that ambulance?

Yes, and instead of the bus there is two cars  If they both stayed on the road (which I do say in my post they could have done) there would be very little room, and smaller when you add in the speed of the ambulance.
