I have experienced a similar situation last year. Someone kept calling and asking for me by name and telling me there is something wrong with my internet and they needed to fix the issue. On one occasion before I hung up I heard someone swear at me.

One day i decided to setup a laptop with a fresh install of Windows and allow connection in order to try and obtain an IP address. I started to chat with the person to try and find out who he was and eventually he tried to sell me an annual iYogi remote support package. It turns out it was from using Avast Antivirus free edition

I registered a few years ago but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I think the calls might be coming from India as the caller was so anti-Pakistan.

TPS can't do anything as they are overseas. You can look at call blockers or just continue to wind them up. I'm in the latter camp.

caller unknown, number witheld or number I don't recognise (0800 or whatever) doesn't get answered. If it's important they leave a message.
