Pulled over by the police question

Thanks for the replies guys, it's put my mind at ease.

I'm sure I'll get over it, just a bit of a shock to the system I think :)

There are some complete ***** on the road tbh.

I had a similar sort of thing happen to me.

I was sat in traffic at a junction near where I live just before a 'Keep Clear' bit of road which sits adjacent to a slip road. The guy behind me wanted to turn left and was indicating as such, then started beeping me so I looked in my mirror and gesticulated me to get out of the way.

I, of course refused and therefore he decided to keep beeping and waving his arms around. The lights then turn green, at which point he overtakes me (single carriageway), pulls in front and slams on his brakes. Luckily I started to pull away slowly and was able to stop in time. We both pull away and he drives at a pretty slow speed to intimidate me I imagine but unfortunately for him my road was the next left.

I don't know what he was expecting but all I can say is that I was glad that I didn't have to continue down the road.

The point to this long story is that I saw that you can report these incidents online, which I did, and so hope that the **** gets a ticking off. I have a feeling, though, nothing will come of it :(

I was pulled over for using my mobile whilst driving - when I disputed this (before being asked to get out of my car), I was informed that both officers had seen my hand to my ear...
One officer then said he definitely saw me on the phone.
I asked the officer if he was certain...
When I then informed the officers that my phone was 26 miles away, on my bedside table and that I had been scratching my ear, they demanded I get out of the vehicle, in order for them to search it.
As I got out and went to move to the boot, I was held back and before I could explain why I wanted to get to the boot, the bracelets were put on and I was forced to sit on the floor.
15 minutes later, despite any attempt to talk/explain being met with a curt "shut up", they opened the boot - this was the moment I then asked if I could please have my wheelchair...

I agree, the police don't like their time wasted - but they hate it even more when they're responsible for the wasted time.

They never did find any "mobile device" in the car, according to the letter of apology the chief constable sent me...

Power mad, amazing what a uniform and a metal badge can do to people. The officer that dealt with me shared a similar attitude. Absolutely disgraceful. I sincerely hope they had trouble sleeping that night but regrettably i doubt that would have been the case. Media would have jumped all over this.

Making me paranoid about scratching my neck/ear/messing with hair while driving <_<

I have a sorta similar-ish story that's kinda funny, I got stopped once because I was driving suspiciously, I was in fact lost and driving round the same area repeatedly in a "bad" neighborhood, they assumed that because I had a fast car I must be a drug dealer so set about searching the car after cuffing me and telling me to sit on the kerb, eventually they didn't find anything so called me over, at which point they noticed I had made the mistake of taking the handcuffs off (sitting like that was hurting my shoulders) so one of them panicked and tackled me to the ground (pretty much speared me Goldberg style), however he landed with my knee right in his groin (fluke accident), we laughed about it after of course.

Was happy enough with an apology and assurance the occifers involved would be given suitable retraining... Didn't feel the need to take it any further - last thing I want is to make a name for myself as a troublemaker.

I understand your plight for not wanting to make trouble but the be all and end all is that they probably recieved a slap on the wrist. Its damn right disgusting how some police officers treat people innocent or not. They are there to uphold the law in the most proffesional way possible, this sort of treatment is nothing short of dog like. I understand you have drawn a line under it but it angers me to no end the fact that these people feel the need to treat people in anyway they see fit.

Some officers are cocky arrogant ******s, it is a fact and I know a few as mates, but it is a cultural thing in some roles. However, if I was having to deal with bottom dwellers most of the time I too would perhaps show that in my dealings now and again so I don't get stressed about it.

The difference is I've never had that cocky arrogance last more than a minute or so as how I deal with them tends to reflect how they deal with me. I've been pulled a few times, one of those things when you travel as many miles as I do, but I have only been issued with a ticket once, when I was a cocky 19 year old and I think that is telling. If you give attitude you are already on the back foot and even if you believe the officer is out of order, defuse the situation for your own purposes, if it really riles you take their number and go speak to their boss.

A shouting match with a fed is usually only going to end one way.

I got pulled the other day on the bike because he heard my exhaust a mile away, whilst riding his own motorbike, he was nice tbh, couldn't fault his attitude, simply told us to calm it down, and to change my license plate :p

how did you get the handcuffs off? xD were they just on loose? you're a wizard? or did you just step through so your arms were in front. love the initial reaction though to spear you.... actions first, questions later xD

and that wheel chair incident, made me laugh! not at you but just how i can imagine sitting there and then coming out with that after they probably thought you were going to stash something.... always assuming the worst xD

most of the cops i've met (know a few in rl) are pretty sound but there are the few odd balls with the god complex, "You're wrong, I'm right, end of!" attitude :(

I got pulled before for "suspicious driving" was driving home late and I was the only car on the road, cop catches up to me and drives insanely close to my rear (i couldn't see his lights in my rear view mirror!!!). so being in a nervous disposition I pulled off the main road drove down a slightly alternate route and then rejoined the road...guess who was pulled over waiting a bit further down xD pulled me over and when asked "why I was trying to avoid him" I explained how I felt uncomfortable that he was driving to close and that I was in his way, he simply replied with "HAHA wrong answer". pretty sure I know how I was feeling :p baring in mind this is the first time ever I had been pulled over too xD went through the usual (i assume :p )motions of is this your vehicle, insurance, been drinking, anything on you, where you been where you going, can i search the car... etc... did every thing as asked. was told to step out and empty all my pockets. yadda yadda yadda. he was happy that I wasn't stealing a car or running drugs and just kept saying he doesn't understand why I pulled over. xD sent me on my way... then continued to follow me just as close almost all the way back to my house!!!! pretty sure if i tapped my brakes he would have hit me, like he was slip streaming me or something xD I just laughed it off, but I still remember the initial intimidation of his driving and then the first few mins of talking with his attitude towards me, out right telling me that my reasoning was wrong and then proceeding to grill me. at the end we were laughing about it but initially I felt very pressured as if i had done wrong :(

tl-dr: cops pulled me over and made me feel guilty

but don't worry OP nothing more I imagine will come of it :) just another life lesson so learn if someone is being silly just think safe :) there a junction in here in swansea (some may know the one way system over the two bridges down by SA1) and you get people in the wrong lane just blindly merging into my lane causing me to slam on or I'll be following my road markers and they will want to cut across and beep at me as if to tell me i'm cutting them up... even though they are the ones cutting the lane makers at a nice 45 degree angle xD I just ignore them and carry on my way.

My only interaction with cops in 9 years of driving has been when I broke down in the outside lane of a dual carriage way (4 lanes at that point) and the armed response unit were sent to deal with it.

Got to say not looking forward to being pulled over given other peoples' experiences of it.

I detached my prosthetic arm at the wrist rotation section and then reattached it outside the cuff, these officers were not "detective" material :P

I know I shouldn't laugh but that's the funniest thing I've read all week - cheers :)

OH MY!!!! sorry about the arm :( but that.....is.....hilarious!!!!! did they know you have a prosthetic arm?! please say they didn't :)

reminds me of "who framed roger rabbit" when they are hand cuffed together and eddie asks roger to hold the table steady, at which point he slips out from the cuff and holds the box... eddie saws, stops and looks at him.... and roger slips back in.. "you've been meaning to tell me you could have gooten out of these cuffs any time you wanted?!?!?!" "no.... not any time.... only when it was funny" haha xD
