This is what i've got so far, a 3770k for gaming, streaming, video editing and a GTX 670 as a single card graphics solution. Already have 120hz monitor and all the accessories I just need the rest of the box specced.

Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £269.99

Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £85.99

MSI GeForce GTX 670 OC Twin Frozr Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card MSI GeForce GTX 670 OC Twin Frozr Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £319.99

So I need help with a Case, PSU, Memory (16gb?) and a Cooler for overclocking.

Any help will be much appreciated.

the ram is great for overclocking you could take it to 2333mhz on really low voltages, the cooler will keep your cpu temp nice and low for overclocking and it will fit into the top of the case, psu is made by seasonic and will give you enough overhead for overclocking and running the 670

Thanks for the advice, what kind of overclock should I be aiming for with that setup?

Would also like to know how much difference I will see with water over air cooling?

overc lock over depends on the chip but anywhere between 4.5-4.8. The h100 will be able to keep it cool enough.

These CLC's are a little better than high end air coolers. Though you do pay for it.

My D14 (my personal favourite air cooler) cost £60 and happily keeps my [email protected] not even touching 60C. The H100 will beat this but I don't feel its worth the extra £35.

What id do with you build is set it up for Xfire.

Ditch the 670 for a 7950 saving a good -£70

Switch the D3H for the Z77X D3H. +£30

Grab an XFX 750w +£25

Switch the H100 for a D14/K2/Silver arrow/phanteks -£35

Grab a 120Gb 840 pro +£90

Spot on. :)

Nice one idle. No need for 16Gb unless running multiple VM's or Heavy rendering.. 8Gb is still plenty. With 1155 anything over 1600Mhz doesn't make a difference either. So you nay aswell save your money and get 8Gb 1600mhz (not just my opinion, was in PC magazine :)).

That Samsung pro has gone up a lot.

I'd be tempted to switch the 128GB pro for a 250GB non-pro as it only loses write speeds, and I guess once everything is installed, it's just going to read instead of write data.

i have the 830 basic and once windows is installed and your programs...i ahvent touched it since except for the odd program install, witht he same internet connection i load faster into all the games me and my friends play who are all on standard mechanical hard disks so tbh write speeds dont really matter after everything installed plus double the size would be more beneficial

The 660ti is in the same price bracket, but the 7950 OCs better and is better value/performance in comparison.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/550?vs=647

The 670 would be the other Nvidia alternative, but more expensive.

The benchmarks are all at stock speeds but not sure if they are using the latest drivers.
As already mentioned, the 7950s do OC better, which is one of the reasons the offer better value and performance for the price.

And yes the 500w Psu will be fine for this system.

I like this spec, but would prefer an nvidia gpu, as the main game I play has always run better with nvidia cards/drivers and its a niche game so I don't see it improving anytime soon.

What Game do you play?

The 7950 should do better than the 660ti even if the game is Nvidia coded.

The Nvidia GPU's are very good, just not well priced...

the 7950 will perfomr better than these benchmarks show as the newer drivers (which these benchmarks do not use) for the amd series give a slight performance boost

SLI capable. If you use the 7.5% discount code (aprilsale) and remember the £15 quid cashback on the SSD you are looking at £1050 ish.

There is a Bgrade 2TB HDD for £62 or pay the full price of £73 new if you'd prefer the extra capacity

was just pointing it as a 7950 would be better in this build and putting the extra money into other parts of the system

And I thought my post was showing the OP that the 7950 was better overall value, regardless or new drivers.:p

That salt air is getting to you. :D

What`s Bangor like these days, long while since I was last there.
