Unwanted yellow lines being put outside my house?

The plans would have been displayed somewhere in the local town hall or whatever, the time to object has come and gone!

best bet is to get all of the street to complain as one to the council and see what the reaction is.

Yup, there would have been a consultation period.
Unless you can prove that this didn't happen do what Atreus says above, get as much of the street to sign off on a letter of protest as possible.

You're astonished very easily if you can't figure out why a council tax, road tax, and every other tax under the sun paying member of the public may be annoyed his use of the road outside of his home is being restricted, adding inconvenience and likely lowering his property value without consultation by those whom he pays his taxes to. By the sounds of it his neighbours feel the same way.

Of course he can complain - and quite rightly so.

Lowering property value. Dear Lord.

NO-ONE has the right to park outside their home on a public highway and the OP already has adequate off-street parking.

I'd love our council to put double yellows down our street. It's an utter joke.

The problem is people buy houses with a single drive when they have two or three cars and a works van. Parking on the street should be banned to be honest.

I'm sick of having to weave around other cars, and down our street you can't even walk along the path as people put two wheels up there.

Honestly, your house price will probably go up not down. Who wants to buy a house surrounded by a million cars

I'll take them outside mine please! Just waiting for someone to crash through our front wall due to the special parking of our neighbours!

Looks like you all have quite a bit of a drive / parking area within your own boundaries. Why the issue about not being able to park outside?

"But Mr Dent, the plans have been available in the local planning office for the last nine months."
"Oh yes, well as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn't exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them, had you? I mean, like actually telling anybody or anything."
"But the plans were on display ..."
"On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them."
"That's the display department."
"With a flashlight."
"Ah, well the lights had probably gone."
"So had the stairs."
"But look, you found the notice didn't you?"
"Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."

What on earth is this from? (Presuming it is from something and not just something you've made up!)

Without going in to too much detail - it's a public road, not your own private parking. Deal with it...

Surely when you bought the house you realised there wasn't enough parking on the property for your car?

Try suggesting to the council they only paint the double-yellows on one side of the road?

This and it looks like most or all of front gardens can be made to include additional car park spacing.

In case of fire I would prefer to have clear street and lose a little of my garden.

I imagine you may have done this already as you say you have room for 3 cars off road parking
