msi mpower and msi gaming series

I can honestly say I dont know. I have been clocking the gaming series today for a review system and its certainly no better than the M Power that I have had for a while.

The gaming series has an advantage, it has a far far better sound chip from Creative Labs than the Realtek in Mpower.

Though the Realtek sound chip in the Mpower is actually quite good but the drivers are the real problem, they never seem to work right

and creative's driver does? well thats a first for me (being a former X-FI titanium pro owner)

the price differences are down to an increased number of proprietary features on the gaming series.

The Mpower is a board designed for overclocking, they focused on just those parts that make a difference to OC performance. There is very little on the Mpower that MSI have to pay to use.

The gaming series, however, has a few, expensive non-MSI owned features for which there is hardware, software costs and a licensing fee to be paid.

so it's a choice, OC performance Vs Gaming Features, two different boards for two different target audiences. If you try to compare the Mpower with the Gaming Series on any level then you are missing the point.

the z77 m power is just the z77gd65 tarted up.

gaming series is the m power but with 'more premium' sound / nic.

The reason msi have introduced the gaming series is that there's going to less and less to differentiate motherboards going forward, manufacturers need to try and stand out by offering things like custom nics/sound
