Hi
Finally got around to putting system together, can the wise people here sanity check for me?

I will be re-using Keyboard/mouse.
I have spare cables (sata etc)
I have OS

Questions I have against this build are
  1. Are they all compatible?
  2. Had post already in Case forum, I will be putting this in to my old Cooler Master ATC-201 case - Shout if anything might not fit!
  3. Any components you would swap out?
  4. Reducing the price would be good :)
  5. Is the screen the right choice, big part of the budget and fancied the move to IPS (although I would like option for screen with speakers)
  6. Will the SSD fit into the msata on the Mobo?

I will be giving the system I have in spec to my Son, he will use mainly for school work and games like Minecraft and some steam games. Seems to work for me although recently my WOW experience with this build has had huge FPS drops (down to 1fps in 25 man raids) and this new build will hopefully address my gaming side.
Hope to be able to play decent FPS on it as well as WOW

Yes I want 16gb as this will be mainly a games machine but I also develop in VS2010 and have quite a few VMs (Workstation 8) that I use for work stuff and want the option to run on my home PC rather than work laptop.

Would you not like a heatsink to allow you to overclock and such? If you do, make sure you get some low-profile RAM.
Maybe change the GPU to a Gigabyte one instead as well.

@ThaReaperGuy
maybe me not looking right but I thought the memory was low profile?
To start I was going retail, I could then look at OC later on.. unless stock is not grunty enough without?
Why the Gigabyte GFX? £8 dearer and slightly lower core. I see an extra year warranty but imagine 2 yr on Sapphire is enough.

@Leprechaun312
Reading others reviews and monitor forum re screen. I dont particularly need a high stand although my current sammy 22" does sit low on the desk and not eye line.

Low profile RAM would be something like GeIL EVO Leggera 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

You perhaps want to consider the quality of the graphics card warranty: Graphics Card Warranty's - Let's see how good they really are *Look*

The monitor is designed for 3D use with Nvidia cards.

I don't know a lot about 3D but if you want it you should perhaps be looking at an Nvidia graphics card or a monitor more suited to AMD with the HD 7950.

I believe that Nvidia offers the best 3D solution.

Thanks for link to alternative RAM. I will look to swap that over.

GFX thread you linked is a few years old looking at post dates, but taken on board.

I have chosen monitor based on other people views and its 144hz (wanted 120hz for gaming)

I don't intend to use the monitor for any 3D at all.
Happy for any suggestions on the monitor as I am really not sure on them.

Going to sleep and will look with fresh eyes tomorrow

Thanks

The thread was updated on 23rd January this year, so is up to date. If you aren't wanting 3D, then an AMD GPU will be fine with that monitor.

Majority of recommendations show the gigabyte mobo. What do you mean by misunderstanding.
Also if MSI alternative what would you suggest?

Ordered bits. Ordered some elsewhere as even the AprilSale did not reduce price enough. Pity the AprilSale adds the delivery back onto cost.

Looking forward to building into old atc-201 case and experiencing SSD windows boot up and game load times. Also hoping the gfx card boosts my games settings and performance :)
Thanks for advise along the way
