F12 M6 & M135i Drive

My SLK goes back in March, my heart really wants an EB 5 door auto M135i with pro Nav to replace it. I am interested in the A45 but it would need to be pretty stella.

cracking pics, although I cant make my mind up on black front grille on the Estoril Blue, might look better now since I've had my rears tinted.

Welcome to the club :)

No doubt it's a great achievement. They could have put a bit more thought into the wheels and wing mirrors though, (perhaps a bit less thought into the wheels!) and that's from someone who is usually function > form!

Ok thanks. That sounds good for new buyers. Still, I can't imagine it will buck the trend that much and will still lose a reasonable amount? What sort of percentages does the RV forecast show?
The forecasts seem to suggest that it's performing several percentage points better than some of the best of the other models in the range.

When I have driven it a bit more I will do a little write up. So far very pleased, going to take it easy for a few hundred miles before I start driving it as it should be driven ...

M1 bumper conversion anyone? - http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=833104

Nice Sam.
So with all of the options you spec'd, how much was was it?

I paid around £33K and includes a 10% discount:)

Wow Sam, I have been lying here unable to sleep for the last 2 hours with excitement and your pictures have made it even worse! :D

Enjoy

Duel clutch like the GTR's or is it different some how, because the GTR has felt like no other car I have ever driven or been a passenger in with the way it changes gear.

Well one would imagine it's very different from the GTRs dual clutch, seeing as it has no clutches and a torque converter :p

The ZF 8HP in the M135i is a traditional torque converter automatic; it's an evolution of the 'slushbox'.

From a human perspective the shifting is 'virtually instant', much the same as it is with the GT-R. Realistically speaking, there's little benefit to a double clutch transmission from a shift speed point of view.

Eh? A dual clutch box is over twice as fast shifting than a torque converter... and despite that essentially only being a difference .1 of a second, it is noticeable.

Also there's no power train loss in a dual clutch compared to a torque converter.

I would say .1 of a second is of 'little benefit', unless you are talking professional racing.

How does the power transfer through the transmission in a dual clutch if there's no powertrain loss? Does the gearbox not heat up?

Torque converter is locked up so it doesn't matter to losses at that point. However you do get much better road and traffic manners in a torque converter! Plus that slight let up in power adds to the experience IMO.

Photos to follow. Here in Kent the weather has been awful today.

I'm hoping to take it to a multi story tomorrow and get some snaps with the SLR :D

If I didn't come across as excited/ecstatic (and a little bit tipsy) in those last two messages then I apologise.

What a car.
