So, I have heard (correct me if I am wrong) that Wired Mouse and Keyboard is better than Wireless Mouse and Keyboard.

That's more a statement that a question.

My question is, I sit a little further away from my PC and screen than the cable on a Mouse and Keyboard will reach (the PC is in my front room and I sit on my sofa). So, if I was to get a Wired Keyboard and Mouse and then add a USB extension on to cover the gap (a couple of feet), would I notice any difference? Or is it worth me getting a Wireless one?

Cheers

Just get wireless, I had this discussion a few years back which some kid was basically calling me an idiot gamer cause I had a wireless mouse and that 0.1ms difference meant everything.

There is no difference, if it's easier for you to be wireless then be wireless.

So I suppose my next question would be ... Recommendations?

As I am sure it is evident from the fact I will be playing on my sofa, I am not a 'serious' gamer so not fussed with all these extra buttons, just want something that will reliably connect.

The only thing in the way on my PC and Sofa is Wireless Router and some stairs? Will that make a difference?

Cheers

I have had both .... just get what you want if you want wifi look for a mouse that has a dock that keeps it charged apart from that go for it :-)

Wired or wireless are fine.
Downside of wired is obviously that it doesnt look particularly great and also youd have to have extensions which would look bad as well.
Downside of wireless mice is having to charge/change batteries which could screw you up if you were doing something (gaming)

Stick with wireless

Nothing wrong with wired or wireless, it really depends what you are doing though.

I used to have a logitech bluetooth wireless mouse/keyboard set and it was an utter bitch when you are flying the heli in bf2 and the next minute your gunner is asking why we are in a tailspin. Battery ftw.

For a wired mouse I would recommend one of these: Logitech G500 5700DPI Gaming Mouse, it's very comfortable to use, I bought one for use in work, so it's used all day with no hand cramp.

For wireless I have a Microsoft gaming mouse which is not bad and gets the job done. Mice are one of those personal things go with what you find comfortable to use dpi is so fast these days 2600 and 3200 dpi won't make any difference.

Looks like it will be a wireless mouse then as all you helpful people have made it clear that there isn't a huge difference ... And I won't be playing BF2 so no dead Heli Gunners over here!

My budget is around £100 for both a W/Mouse and W/Keyboard? I will have a look when I get a chance, which isn't often.

Also, is there much difference between all the mats on offer? I will need a medium size one to lay on my couch as it isn't the best surface for the opticals.

lol when I got this new system a month ago i decided to go wired from wireless ... no reason other than I wanted a new keyboard and mouse that matched my new system so i went with :-

As I had also decided I wanted to keep below £100 for now and I have been impressed by them both, they did take a few hours to get used to as they were different than the Logitec ones i had before .....
