I am about to make a decision on whether to upgrade or not. This is my current rig-
Intel e6700 overclocked to 3.6ghz
geforce 660 ti
asus p5n-e sli
4 gig ddr2 ram at 800 mhz
Even with the overclocks, I cannot play Far Cry 3 at a decent fps, it seems to average 18-35 fps. I am considering upgrading my cpu, ram and mobo to this;
intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz
Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C9 1866MHz
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Will the performance be notably better? Is the i5 processor noticeably better than the overclocked e6700? I must admit that the overclocked E6700 does not seem to play far cry 3 much faster than when it was at stock speeds, which is disappointing. With the upgrades, would I be able to get a solid 50-60 fps? I'm guessing it is my processor and ram letting my rig down, because the 660 ti is well capable of running Far Cry 3 smoothly.
Getting back into gaming/pc's after a few years out, so apologies for the newb questions!
Cheers
