What good games from the last 5-6 years could I run well on my rig?

I like FPS, RTS, RPG, action and pretty much anything except sports games.

geforce 660 ti
intel e6700 overclocked to 3.6ghz (doesnt seem to have made much difference in trying to get far cry 3 playable!)
Asus p5n-e sli
4gb Corsair Ram at 800mhz

I really want games I can run at a very playable FPS, like around 60 with decent graphics. Any ideas?

Trouble is you are really CPU limited with just a dual core processor and probably aren't getting the most out of your GFX card. See if you can score a Q6600 from eBay, clock it to 3.6 and that should make a decent difference to any modern games you want to play.

your CPU and GPU are an unfortunate mixup - the 660ti is a very capable card, but you've got the handbrake on with that CPU :(

As above, try and score a cheapo Q6. They don't all hit 3.6, but even at 3.2 it would be so much faster.

thanks brah, will try company of heroes. got half life but portal is too hard for me. will try fallout too :)

GTA IV believe it or not will run quite well on your rig, better so than somebody with say... a 3570k and a GTX670? :p

A very weird game indeed.

Tribes Ascend I think will be ok, I have a similar spec but a Q6600 cpu and it runs fine on high/max.

Its free, download it from steam.

Lol, I took a gamble today and bought it for a fiver, I dread to think how it will run.

Bioshock should run quite well, Battlefield 2 and the CoD games too. If you're into racing games, GRID should be good too but I'd highly recommend GTR2.

GTA4 on a dual core
It is one of the few games from yesteryear that really needs tri-core or above, even people packing E8x00 @ 4ghz struggled with it.

I recommend Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Just Cause 2
Batman Markham Asylum and City
Portal 1 and 2 (give it another go, GlaDOS is amazing)
Call of Duty 4
Burnout Paradise (if you have an Xbox 360 controller or a wheel)

COD 4 should work fine, I used to play it ad-hoc on an old work laptop (dell duo with intel graphics) with a few mates. I agree with some of the other guys though - try to score yourself a Q6600, brilliant chip. ;)
