Got a Q9550 that currently hits 84 degrees under Prime, it's at 3.4Ghz, stock volts. Think the heatsink on the Cooler is clogged with dust and also needs re-seating (not done this in about 5 years). Are the black swivel style pushpins easy to remove and re-usable?

In work at the min so can't look at it. If so I'm nabbing some IPA and lint free cloths :)

Cheers!

Yep, it operates just like the intel stock cooler and the pins are reusable. Twist the top part of the pin and pull it out. When you go to refit the cooler, push one pin down, twist to lock it then do the one diagonally opposite. I found this to make it a bit easier.

Nicely priming at 70 degrees, not perfect but better :) And that's with the heating on in the house......not entirely sure why, cause I'm sweating my nads off :)

Cheers again!

What sort of voltage are you using for the overclock, how hot is the room and whats your case airflow like? 70c still seems a little on the high side for theese chips. Is this an EO or the earlier C1 stepping. Had an EO at 3.8ghz that rarely reached higher than 55c @3.8ghz in p95.

Currently at stock volts, airflow is fine it's in an Akasa Eclipse with decent fans, to be honest it's always been hotter than normal hence I stopped mucking with it at a nice OCDOC of 3.4Ghz :)

Akasa eclipse 62, same case my own was housed in, and as is my second rig. Absolute cracker of a case. you could maybe push it a bit higher with a better aftermarket cooler if you ever feel you need a bit more oomph. The freezer is a pretty decent cooler, but not ideal for quads. 70c under p95 is still grand though, as you wont hit that in normal tasks or games.
