Hey folks, got upto £650 absolute tops tbh and I want to upgrade my GPU and monitor.
At present I am running a HIS Ice Q turbo 6950 2gb, along with a Samsung 22" 120Hz, playing at 1680x1050, main use would be for gaming, FPS styleeee.

My dilemma is, I have read that the price justification for a 7970 over the 7950 doesn't really warrant it, however I have been looking at the GHZ variants, I see they have the Ice Q version on for £320 this week but that only leaves me £330 for a monitor. Or do I stick with say a 7950 and spend the extra on the monitor?

Ideally I would like to go as large upto about 29" as my budget allows.
As I currently game at 120Hz, I would like to stick at this, unless persuaded otherwise, maybe even jump to 144Hz. Thing is I dunno if I want 1920x1080 or a larger resolution.

So could I have some suggestions please to help me decide :
.....better card - poorer monitor
.....poorer card - better monitor

Thanks guys!

P.S. On a side note, not really looking towards Dell, as I have seen a fair few threads about light bleed. Also, I saw a comment about Asus' no dead pixel guarantee, is this across the range, or a select few models?

Thanks for that, I hadn't looked at the benq range, I bought my lad a benq last year and for some reason that bright purple benq logo screen he has on his is just eurghh tbh.

However the one you linked states :
In addition, the sleek headphones hook at the back keeps your desk top neat and tidy.

.......WIN :p

That is a complete and utter win.

That monitor is very highly rated. The 24" version is the more popular and around £80 (guesstimate) less.

I recently bought a Benq GW2250HM monitor, brand new from ebay for £107

Its a brilliant monitor and at 22" exactly what you'd be looking for.

With that you'd have £543 to buy a graphics card. I could get you to Mars with that much cash for graphics.

At 144Hz, the screen is updating 144 times a second. Which means the screen updates every ~6.95ms. So 2ms response vs 1ms response won't really make that much difference.
