a laptop coolers that i can use on my lap?

hi all,
im after a laptop cooler for my alienware m17x R3 that ic comfortable on my lap.

i occasionally game on my laptop downstairs instead of using my desktop, and the laptop cooler i have is for 15" and the fan is broken.

all the ones on ocuk seem to be more for being on a desk than a lap so anyone got any ideas on a laptop cooler with desent cooling and is comfortable?

I have a targus laptop chill mat, that is designed for this very purpose.

Mine is a 15.6 inch version though I am pretty sure they do a 17 inch version as well, check the out

yer thats the sort of thing im looking for , how comfortable is it on your lap and what sort of temperature drop do you get out of it?

I have the same cooler, the cooling on it is ok, but not brilliant. Depending on how loud the fans on your laptop the cooler might be noticeable when plugged in. It's not all doom and gloom though, for a start its one of the few coolers that has a soft neoprene cover on its base, so it's comfortable. Another good thing is how the passive/active cooling to the base can never be obstructed like most cooler designs as the air enters from the side and gets pushed up and not from underneath so it can't get blocked by your legs or whatever uneven surface it rests on.

The main thing with these coolers is not the fan strength as it only ever makes a few degrees difference. It's the ability to allow unobstructed airflow to the base of the laptop and this cooler does that well.

The only niggle I have with it is there is no cable tidy for the usb connector, so if its not plugged in it will be loose.
