What makes them so terrible?

Everything. To name but three: no lip to stop the screen getting scratched if the phone is placed face down, less grip than the actual phone, and a fit so poor you can push the phone out with one finger.

They've got some good reviews on Amazon, though - all from the same people, who each reviewed several Spigen cases (giving them all five stars) and never reviewed anything else.

They have good reviews from people who have used them and from Amazon. Plus I've used one before and it was pretty decent. They are not perfect of course, but better than most of the cheap crap you get on ebay/amazon.

Don't really care about 1 review on Amazon tbh, seems someone's been pretty sad and posted a negative review on all their products to "balance it out", so silly :p

EDIT:

Anyone got any non-Samsung cases yet and can post some pics? Really struggling to decide what to get :p

That would be an unofficial case, probably of shocking quality.

The wood effect ones were clip on rather than back replacing but I assume you've never had an official Sammy cover as an unequipped back st slum factory would be hard pressed to produce anything worse than Samsung official cases, they fall to bits, get shoddy and loose surprisingly quickly.

I've bought a variety of cases for my old Note and my son's s3 and the unofficial copies are by far and away better than my Sammies, my current £8 Nilkin flip is a clip on for the N4 and isn't bulky tbh I think it's genuine as the packaging was real, stuff made in China is cheap as chips before retailers grab them.

The s view cheapies I saw looked like back replacing official cases.

I've had several official Samsung covers of both the flip and normal variety and they have all been fine... The official Samsung flip case for the S4 is of fantastic quality, I assume the S View is the same as it basically is the same only with a bit of plastic in it! My old S2 flip case is still almost perfect with only some slight damage to the plastic edges.

On the flip side (...!) I've had tons of unofficial cases and they were all mostly terrible. They usually don't fit properly and none are of great quality. I'm sure there are a few that are good, but most are total crap! Hence why threads like this exist so people can share the knowledge!

So this is the SPIGEN SGP Samsung Galaxy S4 Case Protective [Slim Armor] [Metal Slate] Slim Fit Dual Layer Protective Case I received today via Rainforest.

The colour doesn't do it justice in the picture, it's more of a dirty blue / dark grey in real life.

I just have to decide whether or not to buy a S4.... :o

I've had the spigen dark brown leather flip case for a couple of days now. I'm quite impressed with it, especially the fold-stand function.

A few colleagues have actually commented on how slick it looks as well :)

Looks pretty nice. What are your impressions of it? According to JeditOjanen it's crap! :p

I have no idea, as I don't have a S4 (yet) to put it in! :p

I've used nothing but Spigen SGP cases on my S2, S3 and S3 LTE and haven't had any problems, they've provided adequate protection.

I ordered that Mediadevil screen protector too - hope it's top quality as its pricey.

Dude I hope so! If they're the same quality as the ones I fitted on my HO and ripped it off in frustration (due to it being a fingerprint magnet) I will not be impressed

I've also bought a 10 pack of Kolay screen protectors as my backup. all I need now is the phone :p

I think you will like it as you liked the i9305.

When the custom roms and JB theme hits it will be perfect.

+1 for sure Dude!

I loved the i9305 that phone was perfect.

I'm just waiting on the custom ROMs and themes to appear and the price to drop to around £520ish and then I'll be joining the S4 club Mate ;)

My mate who's the manager of an O2 shop has just called to say they have them back in stock so reserved a black one for me and a white one for the Mrs.

Is it still the phone worth having?

Damn wrong thread. Should have been in the S4 thread

I'll fix it by saying I'm getting an official car charger for my s4

any recommendations on a flip case to get for my S4? I did like the look of the S view cover but the review's really don't seem to be too great for it with regards to it staying shut
