OK some may have heard a nesting falcon is perched on s faulty Vodafone mast. So for 3 weeks I have had no signal at home. I run my part time business from home and my number is priceless to me. On my cards and countless contacts.

There is no fix date set as animal rights and protected species laws. Possibly June or July when the young have sodded off.

So my options ...

Im on a £10 per month deal. Yet if I want to cancel I have to pay £20 per month as I'm on a massive discount. I can't have my pak code until I cancel and pay effectively double.

Option 2 is get a sure signal booster for £100 plus...

Neither option is great. Vodafone just say its not our fault and won't let me terminate cheaply or at cost ....or provide me with a signal boaster for free as they have In the past for others

70mins on the phone speaking to 4 different people from my land line before they cut me off.

Grrrrrr

If it's their mast at fault, I'd be expecting them to provide the SureSignal for free. Even if it's just temporary.

Make more of a fuss.

You on a business acc? And they still won't give you a SS? You can grab a SS from ebay for £40 is the quick and dirty option.

Turbo edit: There's a V3 plug femto that was just listed for £60, buy this and then re-sell in 4 months, you will barely make a loss. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vodafone-...568?pt=UK_Signal_Boosters&hash=item417304a568

Are you sure they want £100+ for suresignal? They gave me one for £20.

gonna hit the vodafone store in southampton tomorrow at 9am and see if they will do me one reduced if not i will buy the ebay one...

I can't imagine it's not a busy area, it's the only Vodafone aerial for a pretty large area of Southampton, i'm amazed they've not put up a temp install nearby.

its disappointing. the mast is by the uni, lots of students and direct houses/business will have zero signal, at least i get msg's and the odd call.

heading down the voda store today, i am hoping they will be reasonable and give me a signal boaster for free or discounted - or let me end my contract at cost price

then that is strange!
Milking it for a PR stunt possibly? Expect fleet of trailers there tomorrow?

It's been down for several weeks, it's not exactly something that happened yesterday. If they've not done anything by now, I doubt they will be doing anything.

The only reason I can think is that the existing mast is on top of the Faraday Tower in the uni, so enjoyed a pretty elevated position, potentially without being equally high (difficult locally) then any temporary signal just wouldn't help anyway?

I always thought the provider is obliged to give you the PAC code if you ask for it?
Sure if you pay off the rest of your extremely large contractual obligation.

Price is proportional to the contract you have, ergo you pay top price. If you get a choice, you don't need the V3, the V1/2 will do.

I paid £100 in store today. Need it now. Been away in Northampton doing stuff with Barclaycard. But can't not have signal at home. Strange situation but not much I can do. Next thing is to now try and get my money back. So far been credited 20% but written to customer services asking for the rest back. I might be able to claim it from work if not. Sadly I had to act now.

Its their problem, if the network changes or does not work in your area to your detriment, you may be entitled to your pac free of charge (breach of contract). Take your complaint to ofcom at least. You certainly should not be paying anything for a sure signal.

I think vodafone are gonna repay the line rental for the duration for everyone in the area. but yeah it bad. i will be trying next week to get a refund on the remaining £80 either via vodafone or work.

That sucks Jim, can't believe Vodafone haven't installed some temporary masts until the nesting season is over. Pretty poor response from them. The least they could do is give you the suresignal or at worst cost price.

P.S How's the new job going?
