This is why young drivers crash so often.

Filmed yesterday during my shift, dash cam records using time lapse at 720p/30fps, basically 9 seconds actual time is 1 second in the video.

I have cropped the footage and taken out this little segment, road in question is the B3178, road is NSL, but vehicle driven is limited to 56, was doing about 40-45 on the approach, slowed slightly when I saw the pickup creeping out.

Note the Ford Ka, driving right past and emerging without even attempting to look. Just pulls out right in front of a 3t fully loaded van doing ~40mph, car was driven by a < 20 lad, with 3 passengers, 2 in the rear. Had I not reacted so quickly and steered away that could have ended very badly for those rear passengers.

Worst of all they were all completely oblivious and had no idea a 20ft long, 8ft wide, 3t van nearly killed or seriously injured them.

I was just damn lucky nothing was coming the other way.

Thats the junction in question, here's an animated gif of the event.

I really think you should report him, no doubt the driver will misjudge in a similar way in future and a visit by the plod may cause him to reign his driving in a little. If there was oncoming traffic that could easily have been fatal.

Shouldn't this just be 'why drivers crash so often'?

Had someone do similar to me last week, certainly weren't young though. Just looked straight through me and pulled right out across my path (they were turning right out of a side road).

Fortunately there wasn't anything coming the other way so I could swerve around them (they stood on the brakes when they realised their mistake, blocking the road instead - great), only mm to spare though. I was not amused.

Ram in to the back of the KA, because it'd be their fault. If you drove headfirst into oncoming traffic you'd probably get blamed, or some schtick at least. You could make it a whole lot worse as well - easily kill someone.

Only interfere with the vehicle that's interfered with your correct passage...

Agreed, looks like you can get the index from that footage, definitely report it, it's stupidly dangerous.

Its not even young drivers, I was going home on friday via the A66 and was just short of the round about to pick up the south bound A1.

I wasnt hanging around let's say, in the outside lane when some complete arse from the opposite carriage way decides to use the gap in the barriers, the ones which say quite specifically no U turns, to do a U turn in right in front of me.

Now this wasn't a situation where I'm coming up to the gap, I can see a car waiting there, I can guess at the fact he's going to do something brain meltingly stupid, it was a case OMFG there is some **** in an insignia who's just U turned into my lane 50 yards ahead of me.

I couldn't of stopped if I wanted to so ended up swerving and missing him by a foot or so.
