Started playing this again in the last week or so. It's a shame how many hacked cars are flying about online now. When I stopped playing months ago I only came across a few who used them in drag races, now it seems there's at least 2-3 people using them in most rooms.

Was just doing a race on trial mountain, it looked like a good race coming up, I had the amuse s2000 and some guy had a tuned skyline.

The race starts and the guy in the skyline instantly rockets off into the distance with all four wheels smoking, he kept going wide on corners and cutting them just to stay ahead, and then on the straights he would zoom off again at a hilarious pace. It's really quite sad that people have to cheat and still can't win properly.

I think the worst thing is that in all the time I haven't played it, nothing seems to have been done to try and fix these problems.

Pretty much why I always choose to play with friends online. Eliminates the aggro :P
 
How on earth are there hacked cars?? Maybe if they made a competition for hacked cars and a competition for "natty" cars it would attract the hacked ones away? Agreed that it's so annoying playing against cheats, it seems like such a waste of time!
 
If they would release Seattle Circuit, Apricot Hill, French Alps, Tahiti Maze and Special Stage Route 11 maybe I would have an incentive to play this again. I can't believe they had the cheek to offer a straight line as one of the DLC tracks, the content has been poor to say the least and the rally tracks are abysmal.
 
I've just fired my GT5 up for the first time in ages, I actually cleared a lot of game data from games which I haven't played in a while and now I wish I hadn't. I only get a 5MB sync with the exchange at the best of times and I'm on patch 1 of 21, the first patch being 609MB. I'm going to be here all night, not including the optional, but sort of mandatory install of the actual game files when you first launch the game. :D
 
Ouch, that is a lot. I'm pretty sure there's over 4GB. I had to do that as well, once my PS3 packed in. I'm not sure what version it's on now, 2.10 or something. 2.00 was like 1GB or so. All the several 500 - 600MB updates between and after.

Now that I think back... I remember somebody talking about the PS3 super slim with no hard drive and the fact GT5 alone would have used all the space. 11GB with 9GB free or there about...

Well the Academy edition is spec 2.0 already, so not too many. There are a lot of good seasonal evenets to play, gt planet forums have a lot of good tunes as well.
 
Only a few small patches. Two big installs took a while. Enjoying playing in 3d although the 3d is not quite as good as I thought it would be on my Cinema 3d TV. I might need to adjust some settings.
 
Spent a few hours playing this now and tbh it's a horrid game.

There is no sense of speed even in the fastest cars it feels so slow and drab. The handling must have been written by a teenage saxo driver as it is pretty useless. Why do my cars even performance models slide at 30mph. I had an Evo and it did not slide and slip all over the place like it does on this game. Lots of screen tearing although there are options so this could be fixed.

I really wanted to get into this but tbh it is awful.
 
Lol it doesn't really matter what car you have to an extent, different tyre grades can only hold so many lateral G's. For example can comfort softs let you turn at full speed on a focus rs or an nsx? Once they have reached the limit if grip they will let go regardless of the cars they are attached to.

You say you had an evo did you ever try to turn it at 60mph whilst on full throttle.
 
If you're sliiding you need to drive better lol. Real cars are difficult to drive at high speeds this is reflected in the game.
