Do you undertake middle lane morons!

People tend to be more chilled in West Flanders and Antwerp.
In and around Brussels is just too congested and people are general *****.

I was in Antwerp the other month to see Nitro Circus Live (which was epic btw), and I couldn't believe how nice everyone was!
It's a lovely city with a small town feel.

I don't undertake just in case they don't check their mirrors before pulling in..nothing wrong with some patience.

I was driving up the M1 on new years eve, it was quite wet and was travelling about 75 in lane 3 when a Peugeot RCZ thing came up behind me. I was over taking a middle lane hogger at the time whom was travelling at about 65-70mph.

The Peugeot driver began to tail gate me as I overtook the car, as if to say hurry up with it. I had no intention of driving any faster due to the conditions and continued at my safe speed.

He decides that he is impatient and undertakes both of us at about 85mph not before changing to lane 2 and tail gaiting the middle lane hogger. he then rejoins lane 3 cutting in front of me, just as he did we hit a large puddle of standing water and he span out right in front of me, spinning accross all 3 lanes and up the embankment destroying his car..

I couldnt help but think instant karma!

I do it purely to see the look on the faces of people like you. Ideally if i can borrow an Audi then I will as I know that annoys people who are hard of understanding even more due to their "all them Audi drivers" mind set...

I've been driving 28 years and I am more than happy to compare my driving record with yours old boy. Also, feel free to sit in my passenger seat anytime you want as long as I can sit in yours and pass comment. In my 28 years I have averaged circa 25K miles a year and know therefore that you can't put people in nice little boxes to fit your argument, such as assuming because someone drives a certain car they are a certain type.

There is a huge amount of bad driving in this country, experience has shown me that those who are the biggest critics are often oblivious to their own shortcomings as a driver, assuming because they know the rules they are therefore a good driver, which is, to put it bluntly, crap.

I wouldn`t even think about trying to tell me I don`t know about cars or you`ll look pretty silly once you`ve checked the link on my signature.....

Overtaking on the inside (in most cases) is bad driving, and if you have an accident whilst undertaking you`ll be liable.

Just because someone knows all the rules of the road it doesn`t necessarily make them a good driver, but one thing`s for sure, if they don`t know the rules of the road, or even worse if they know them then deliberately ignore them, they`re a crap driver.

And I most certainly do not think all drivers of German cars (even Audis....) are crap, that would be a totally stupid thing to even think. A higher proportion of them are though, and I`ve done the research to prove it thanks very much.

I'm not sure I said you knew nothing about cars, though I have the memory of a goldfish so help me out if i did? Having said that, I'm not sure knowing anything about cars is relevant to this thread at all, so I am somewhat confused by your point. It is fair to say I was underwhelmed by your link as i didn't see Yoda anywhere, just a Westy with a Pinto in it. From 1987 to 1991 I spent quite a bit of time in the factory as I was working in the Black Country and they were a customer. I also sprinted and climbed a friends in the late 80's but it's a total irrelevance here.

I assume your angle, like many who spend most of their time lecturing people about driving standards all the time (we all do it on occasion, guilty as charged), is that because you built a 7 and are likely a member of the IAM, you are on a higher plain to most drivers on the road today. Your posts in this forum have mostly been driving standards related and it did smell a little like a refugee from the Pistonheads IAM forum coming over all high and mighty and because of this I (and others) may have been a little guilty of baiting you to elicit the true point and agenda. I think however we now have that....colours as they say, are on show.

My key point was if you know all the rules and follow them by the book it still doesn't make you a good driver. It makes you a law abiding driver and someone who, based on your German Car stuff you're a person who likes a statistic, probably a safe driver in the main and that's all well and good. If you honestly think you are beyond fault however or never do something a little rash then you are a huge potential risk as I'm yet to find anyone who doesn't and I know some really really good drivers by anyones metric. People who train for the IAM, people who race at the highest level, police drivers and all of them **** it up on occasion, get in the wrong lane, let frustration get to them.

Your research is laughable but again it shows your colours here, you really do have a major axe to grind and I think some of your statements on there, such as..."Both my wife and I drive at around 75mph on the motorway. Most speedos are a bit fast so that`s actually 70mph. " are just laughable. You make your own rules to suit your argument, it's just hilarious, but I want to understand where you learn speedo calibration from as my GT3 was bang on till it got to over 90mph....I tested it. Why not drive at an indicated 70mph to make your measurement? You are admitting to potentially breaking the law, which I have no issue with as I live in the real world, but it seems odd for someone who seems to want to uphold standards.

I think all this shows is why I picked up on your posts. I smelt an Alan Partridge Lexi type (DAN, DAN....DAAAAN) a mile off and your response here nails it really nicely.

Speeding drivers known to his friends as "The Stig" kills bride-to-be.

Driving, if you can call it that, a VW Golf, a German car methinks.

As for "The Stig" in this story they should throw the bleedin` key away as far as I`m concerned, and when he finally comes out he should never be given a driving licence ever again.
Loads of people agree with the above sentiment, but actually most of them are being inconsistent because there are loads of imbecilic drivers out there using the public roads as race tracks and it`s pure fluke that many of them don`t kill someone, so if we`re going to be consistent anyone caught driving like "The Stig" in our story should be banged up, or, at at he very least, have his (because it is usually a he) driving licence permanently revoked.

I can't see how it was entirely the guys fault other than that he was speeding?

All that story goes over is that it is a shame she died so close to her wedding.

If I'm doing 80mph which is what? A couple of second more on the go pedal for most cars these days. It's a factor in a crash if she comes round a corner half in your lane as she's distracted but it's not entirely the fault of the guy doing 80mph.

I was making progress home tonight with my mate in convoy and probably sat at 70ish for most of the time, using the other side of the road when visibility was good and just generally being smooth. Late on I ended up behind a guy who I went with when he overtook a car infront of him. We both made progress and I kept a sensible distance from him and both reduced to lower limits in villages. Once on the motorway we both sat at 80 and had good lane discipline like moving over once we had passed cars going slower and signalling properly. Maybe to you we were 'racing'?

Edit: Reading that post on german cars on that forum just makes you sound like one of those ***** who are think they are the police and have to keep you to the limit, heaven forbid you overtake them! If i want to speed then let me, it's up to the police to deal with me not you.

The article says he strayed into the middle of the road.
