Foam silencing kits. Any good?

Not really will make minimal difference the good stuff is bitchumen

Although bitumen is being surpassed by butyl these days, certainly in car audio sound deadening products.

Ideally one would use a combination of products, just as you would when trying to quieten a car (something I know a bit about). First a heavy mass product like bitumen or butyl pads which will reduce the vibrations in the panel, or at least lower their resonant frequency out of the audible range. This heavy layer will also act as a barrier to block some of the higher frequencies.

Then some kind of absorbent layer, like foam, over the top of that to "soak up" things like the noise of air movement. Ideally a thick semi open cell product with an egg box type surface, but cases don't really have the space for that kind of thing so their manufacturers are always facing a compromise.

I'd highly recommend Silent Coat products for anyone wanting to do some extreme case silencing.
