Broadly speaking, imo you'll usually accumulate enough money to be able to give lots of it away by being selfish first.

When you are brimming over with money, you would probably change and be happy to give millions away whilst still keeping more than enough for yourself. When you're first struggling to accumulate money however, you would be ruthless (in many cases anyway), hoarding, saving and investing your hard fought for money until it gets to the point that you CAN afford to become a philanthropist.

So if being selfish means that ultimately you can give money away and help others, then more power to being selfish.

Not that any of that is specifically inclusive of being rich, at all.

You could be poor and still have all that.

In fact, you could replace the terms rich/average with intuitive and stupid or any number things really.

because celebs are a very specific and odd minority of rich people. its the nature of that particular industry.

Plenty of people..Its not a new suggestion by this guy.

I dont hold the opinion myself but I believe it runs along the line of poverty breeding desperation and desperate people being easily influenced into bad things. Look at the current 'bad guys' in todays world, Islamic terrorism and north korea spring to mind. Poverty driven. Then youve got the crime hotspots that are inner cities..again, poverty driven.

Poverty leads to crime.
