on the off chance anyone here knows about old blueyonder accounts:

How do I change the p/w if I don't have a virgin media account to go with it anymore? I have asked on virgin CS forum, but I'm not expecting a speedy reply...

I had to go through this dilemma with my dad's account which was a blueyonder account.

I setup the account with my email address to go online I think and with that the Virgin Media Mail app they have had the blueyonder email address/username, which I could then change the password to access the account properly through that email/username.

I think you'd need an actual account with Virgin to get access/reset the password.

blueyonder counterstrike and day of defeat servers, those were the days :)

Oh, the memories - 2ms pings. Blueyonder gaming forum. DoD...:D

My wife's xbox live account uses her old blueyonder email address. I wanted to update it to her current live.co.uk address but can't remember the password (the console knows it, but won't tell me, no matter how many times I yell at it).

MS provide a couple of ways to recover accounts, but none of them work for me.

They provide you with the option to have a reset email sent to the email address in question, but as the email account is no longer active, it's no good to me. In fact, I haven't been a VM customer for several years.

Microsoft's form for gaining access asks for emails and folders and such, which I can't provide answers to. So, there's no way of me resetting the account, or changing it.

Microsoft are no help, as they just send me to the form that the 'computer says no' to.

I asked my colleague, who is with VM and still has a Blueyonder email address, if he could create an alias with my wife's old BY email address (as it should now be available), but he couldn't get it working. In fact, I think he just stopped trying after he accidentally deleted all his wife's email aliases (he's not that tech-savy).

Is it actually possible to create blueyonder email addresses (aliases) any more?

Hmm BY email boxes, if they were treated like old NTLWorld ones (more specifically the dialup stuff) then they probably have been expunged after a while if unattached to an account that didnt have active BB. No reason to keep them active if its a defunct customer account.

that's ok - I have an account with them now. I just can't see how to do what I want.

So far all I can do is send email 'as xxxx@blueyonder' through the virgin webmail/gmail portal.

You would think wouldn't you? I cancelled my account after years with them, they had changed to virgin before I cancelled but I still had my old BY email address.

3 years later my email account is still active and so is the 50mb web space they provide for you. Cannot access any settings anymore as I have no account obviously but I can still use email and web space just fine :D

my blueyonder email addy is still live but it was changed to a virgin media account to manage it, same login and pass as back on blueyonder , same email addy I had about 13 years ago which is basically [email protected] (fictitious email addy) but shows the age lol

Do you still have an active BB account with VM? Im pretty sure expunging defunct accounts are low priority so no doubt theyll exist for a fair while after you leave, but theyll eventually get looked at. Hell they only had started on old free dialup accounts a few years ago...
