More interesting developments for the Utd camp this morning.

If he does go I can't see it being to another club in the Premiership. Where would he go though?

PSG, Madrid, Anzi? I just can't place him anywhere.

Would probably be a good thing for United to cash in on him anyway, he's never really proven himself in the really big games, and seems quite unprofessional at times (coming back completely out of shape after summer every year and that sort of thing). As he gets closer to 30/30+ I would expect this behaviour to get worse just because his body will be less able to cope with his lifestyle.

He's coming to Chelsea with José. :p

Chelsea is the only club in the EPL I could ever see him going to (whilst he is a top player).

I can't see him going to Bayern given they have Gomez, Mandzukic, Muller and will probably get Gotze.

In games against top teams in Europe and internationally he goes missing.

He's a great league player but even there his form is sketchy. He peaked quite early at around 21 and has pretty much stagnated ever since.

He's struggled this season to find form even against poor teams.

Well that was entirely Rooney's fault wasn't it?

Face it in big games most of the United team generally goes missing. Especially in Europe we tend to sit back and try and stop them playing, the strikers are mostly spectators.

Put it this way, Van Persie was far worse in the Madrid games than Rooney has been in large games for us.

He peaked around 21 yet had more goals in 09/10(wasn't this like his best year?) and 11/12 than any of his other seasons with similar or lower appearances?

Also he doesn't really go missing vs top teams in europe and internationally I don't think anyone from England covers themselves in glory.

He certainly scores in big games domestically, scored a fair few against us recently, the shinner vs city, some against Chelsea.

I can see your point, I just don't think that losing Rooney would leave as big a hole as people are suggesting or expect.

To be fair to Van Persie, it's his first season at the club. This season was Rooney's ninth.

I think Rooney would be a big loss to Man Utd if he does leave, but I don't think he's lived up to expectations.. But then, I don't think anyone could live up to the expectations he started with!

It all depends on who else we got in, how we change the way we play. If we started using Kagawa in the hole behind a striker (or two) then it could be great for us. There are too many other factors to decide whether it would be good or bad move.

We could make no signings and go into next season with Welbeck and Van Persie starting and Jones tucked in behind them...that would be bad.

Yes, but Rooney is always touted as being the star player. Given his reputation and what he is paid he should be the one coming up with some individual brilliance to win matches, not playing average just because the rest of the team aren't doing anything.

As I said, he's a great premier league player, but I just feel that in the big competitions and in internationals he goes missing too often. Fair enough that all great players do that sometimes but Rooney does it too often IMO.

I think that if United can get a good transfer fee for him now then it would probably be a good move.
