Phanteks cooler is blocking 4 RAM slots...

Ive just removed the bottom fan.

The speeds on the cooler with the 2 fans are as follows.

The top fan is on the PWM adapter that Tealc made, that obviously varies in speed. Ive decided to put the bottom fan (which is now the middle fan) on my fan controller to push more air up, thats running at 1000rpm.

The rear 140mm inlet fan is running at 900rpm, its pretty quiet noise wise.

Should be fine.

Just curious why you don't use the PWM adapter and Y-splitter Phanteks supplies with the cooler on your 2 cooler fans?

Because on the PWM adapter it rarely goes over 700rpm, seems to idle at around 680 - 690rpm until i do something fairly heavy. By having the bottom fan (which is obviously in the middle on the phanteks) on the fan controller i can control it a lot better, i can have it pushing more air up.

Do you need it pushing more air? If so and you use the adapter with Y splitter you can change your PWM speed setting so it runs faster at idle and / or advances faster as CPU gets hotter. Can't tell you exactly how as different mobo makes use different software. I'm using Gigabyte so ET6 Smart is mine.

Keep catching myself scrolling back and looking at your pic.. Sure looks good!

Cheers Doyll, i just had one of them moments like we all do when your at a loose end and you think, i'll switch stuff around just to see how it works out of curiosity.

Its the white against the blue on the phanteks cooler that works really well, thats why i bought a couple of extra fans, one for the rear to keep the theme going and a spare if i needed one. The cooler is just running the 2 fans now, the bottom one has gone.

So far i'd say the temps are pretty much the same when the Phanteks cooler is vertical as it was when it was horizontal, the 4 cores are almost identical temp wise. I guess its just a matter of whether you prefer it vertically or horizontal as it seems like the performance will be the same. Its good that you have the option with this cooler to install it either way.

The thermal paste is the same as when i used when it was horizontal, Gelid Extreme.

you would knock another 4-5c off if you used some coollaboratory liquid pro between cpu/heatsink

better than any paste you can buy

+1 for liquid metal, it's the best stuff on the market. Tends to be avoided in paste reccomendation threads due to it's nature. But as long as you apply it properly, it is streets ahead of any conventional paste.

I'm going to switch the Phanteks cooler back the other way to an orthodox position, temp wise i didn't see any difference by having it exhausting to the top.

With having air sucked in from the rear on the new setup the case is getting a fair bit of dust inside, thats even with a Demciflex filter on the rear. I'll go back to the cooler exhausting the the rear instead of the top.
