Does anyone know how much it is to get the cambelt changed on a peugeot 206? My car is in at the main dealer at the moment and they recommended getting the cambelt changed. They quoted £249.99. Is this a good price?

If it's a standard 206 (i.e., small engine) then it's a pretty simple job - £250 isn't terrible for a dealership but a good indie should be cheaper. Maybe 50% cheaper.

Ensure you get a full cambelt kit and consider doing the water pump at the same time (since you're paying for disassembling that part of the engine anyway).

seems reasonable, but it depends on what theyre actually doing for your £250.

i got a quote from audi for a cambelt job and they literally just changed the belt and rollers. no tensioners, water pump or stat...

sorry for digging the old post up but my girlfriend got quoted £300 for a cambelt change on her 1.4 petrol 206. Cheeky mechanic...

I would bite a mechanics arm off for a £300 cambelt change.....

All depends on the car. The cambelt on a 1.4 206 is a simple job to do, however if that includes the water pump then I'd say it's reasonable. My girlfriend didn't get hers done and it shredded the belt at 115k.

Find a good indi..

Just had the following done for £100 (I supplied the parts)

cambelt / waterpump / tensioner / thermostat

And they cleaned my engine bay then sorted out a few niggles.

Say which town you're in and someone will probably suggest a place.
