Hi all,
Looking for a new office PC for my dad, will be used for basic internet browsing and youtube, that's pretty much it.
Must have Microsoft Office + Windows 7 (he doesn't get on with the newfangled 8, he's just getting used to Vista
), don't need monitor, keyboard or mouse, and will be reusing an old mechanical HDD from an old machine.
Budget is around £400 excluding the software, he has said he must have an SSD after using a machine with one, after being explained their cost.
Case wise he likes the 200r, this isn't great for airflow but I don't think a GPU is needed so a fan or two in the side and top should be fine, as I'm not planning on an overclock particularly.
This is what I've come up with:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD120BW) £85.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050) £83.99
1 x Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium x32/x64 English - (PKC) Product Key Card (MRS-6GQ-00020) £79.99
1 x AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4100 Black Edition 3.60Ghz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £71.99
1 x Gigabyte 970A-DS3 AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £59.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black £49.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £43.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020046-UK) £40.99
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £26.99
Total : £556.51 (includes shipping : £10.50).
Is there any better value for money etc? Not so up to speed on good low end hardware as such, also would it be better to wait for Haswell in particular, as I can't really see the price of these chips going down much further...
Cheers, Ozzymundo
