*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Just a note on battery life. I posted a few threads back that my battery was running very low very quick!
I turned off all the usual stuff that people have been saying; air view/gesture etc. On my S3 I kept WiFi, data and GPS on all the time with no real effect but it seems on the S4 that GPS uses a lot of battery. I was fully charged when I left home this morning and within an hour I used 10% in standby!
So checked the battery meter and sure enough Maps accounted for 18%.
There was however one other surprising stat (which is what I'm really writing about) is that the Samsung Link app accounted for a whopping 20% and I don't even use it! So in short, disabled Samsung Link and battery is grand - turned off GPS too mind you.

Thanks for this info. What does Samsung Link do? Edit its ok just found its to stream photos and things to tv, I don't use this so will turn it off too.

Which SD card are people getting for this?

I think someone said earlier that Sandisk class 4 16/32GB cards were fine but not class 10 though I think this was quashed with other members reporting class 10 worked fine with them. A toss up between the Sandisk 32GB (~£20) or 64GB (~£40) for me - both class 10

Well I ordered the SanDisk Ultra 64GB Class 10 back when i ordered the phone.

I didn't know/hadn't heard of any issues that some have reported here regarding SDHC or Class 10. It is actually the one that Amazon list under the 'Frequently Bought Together' bit below the S4, not that thats anything to go by...

I just wanted a fast, reliable 64gb card...

I think i formatted it via the phone anyway, Copied what was on the old 16gb card i was using while i waited for delivery, then just loaded it up with music etc and its been fine....

What exactly are these 'issues' I've read about?

I got offered unlimited calls, texts and 1GB data, £149 handset fee on O2 (from CPW) and this works out at £797 overall over the two years ... This deal is on the CPW website too

This is the exact deal I got, comes in at £27/m. I am toying with adding the bolt on to double data for an extra £5/m. I'm going to give it a month or two to see what my usage is like but I was previously on Giffgaff unlimited goodybag and I was using around 1.5gb a month but that was just because I could so will see...

No issues with mine whatsoever. Have the exact same card and used it in my S2, S3 and now my S4 - and all this despite the S2 and S3 apparently not compatible with anything above 32gb so don't believe everything you read.

Solved my issue of the current firmware version not showing in Kies.

It was Kaspersky that was the problem, unistalled it and went back to Windows 8 Defender and the firmware version now shows in Kies.

Yeah that's the one :)

I forgot to say that it was £27p/m

Should be investigating the Wii U basic then surely :p?

Nonetheless, that does have limits of its own: apps can only be installed to the internal storage, not to a microSD card, for instance, which means that the latest generation of big game downloads could find themselves out of room

Thought this was fine to do even without root?
